My Best Friend Is My Enemy

My Best Friend Is My Enemy

My best friend is my enemy.
We'll never speak again.
I think he's cruel
He thinks he's cool,
'cause I'm nine and he's ten.

But this does not give him the right
to steal my girlfriend, Claire.
Just 'cause we play
most every day.
doesn't mean we have to share.

I found out that he took her
to a toy store that's brand new.
Without my permission.
I've made a decision.
I'll steal his girlfriend too.

I know two wrongs don't make a right,
but this is a special case.
I'll go to Melissa
pucker up and then kiss her
smack dab on the face.

That will show him not to mess
with me or my girlfriend, Claire.
He's got no clue
just what I'll do,
but my best friend best beware.

Here they come now, I can't believe it!
Together in front of my face.
What's that in his hand,
I don't understand.
It's covered with ribbons and lace.

"Happy Birthday!"
the two of them yelled.
"We went in on your present together."
I stared in dismay
then I grabbed it away.
Brand new skates made of genuine leather!

Well, I guess I was wrong about he and my Claire,
so this battle can come to an end.
They're both very sweet,
and I think it's real neat
that my enemy's my best friend.
