Saturn was probably discovered by ancient Chinese or Greek astronomers. Galileo was the first person to observe Saturn through a telescope. Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun. It is the 2nd largest planet. Saturn's average distance from the Sun is 887 million miles from the Sun. Its equatorial diameter is 74,898 miles and its polar diameter is 67,560 miles. The length of one year on Saturn is equal to 29.46 earth years. One day on Saturn is equal to 10.23 earth hours. The surface temperature on Saturn usually stays around -292 degrees fahrenheit. In weight, Saturn is 95.18 times larger than Earth. The average density of Saturn is .69 g/cm3. The density of water is 1 g/cm3. That means if Saturn were put into a VERY large body of water, it would float. This is becuase Saturn is made mostly out of helium and hydrogen. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune have no real "surface" because they are all made of gas. If we tried to land on any one of those planets, we would simply just travel right through them. I have more information on Saturn. If you want it, just E-mail me and ask.
