Mars was most likely discovered by the ancient Chinese or Greek astronomers. Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. It is a very strange planet that may hold answers to many interesting mysteries. Astronomers think water once flowed on the surface of Mars. Also that Mars once had a very different atmoshphere, which made a VERY different climate. Life even might have existed there long, long ago. Mars' average distance from the sun is 141.6 million miles. Its equatorial diameter is 4,217 miles. It weighs .11 that of Earth. The length of one year on Mars in equal to 686.98 earth days. The length of one day on Mars is equal to 24.62 earth hours (that's nearly the same as a day on Earth). The temperature on Mars can range from -207 degrees at night to +72 degrees fahrenheit during the day. The density of Mars is 3.95 g/cm cubed. I have lots more information on Mars. Just e-mail me to receive.
