Character History

Clan Mistwinter dates back to the height of Myth Drannor.Sladbhein's great-great grandmother was "Lady Steel" Dathlue Mistwinter, leader and founder of the Harpers at Twilight.
Upon the fall of Myth Drannor, the remnants of the Mistwinter Clan stayed within Cormanthyr,to harry the hordes, unable to accede the lands wholly to evil.Sladbhein Mistwinter has always been a bit stranger than your typical elf.Born on the 3rd of Flamerule,to Fanriel and Jansyl, his parents marvelled at his ice blue eyes,a trait that had not been seen in Clan Mistwinter since the glory days of the City of Song.
Sladbhein spent much of his youth exploring the forest of Cormanthor, and took delight in the simplest of natural things. He would sneak about at night, and play pranks on woodsmen, untying horses, letting a fox loose in chicken coops, and other such antics.
His parents were constantly berating Sladbhein for being such an impetuous young elf,and wanted him to act a bit more respectably, especially when it came to others possessions.Countless hours were spent with his father, learning of Mistwinters that had come before, and the secrets that the Clan kept for centuries.Sladbhein learned of his great-great grandmother,'Lady Steel.
His father told Sladbhein that his duty lay with the Harpers,as it had with all Mistwinters for centuries past, and that this duty was of great import, and goodness.Sladbhein had heard of these Harpers before, and wondered why a group of goodly folk would need be so secretive.
His three older siblings are members of this organization, and only his sister treats him with the respect he belives he deserves. His oldest brother,Grendilan,is a boorish brute in Sladbhein's eyes, for he is a Bladesinger that acts much as human Paladins from stories Sladbhein has heard.Ysrandir is a Wildrunner,an all-too-militaristic follower of Rillifane,so far as Sladbhein is concerned.
Tarkinyss, his sister,is the rock in Sladbhein's life. She is a Bard, accomplished in song, dance and poetry, and can entertain Sladbhein for hours with stories about great elves of old.It is due to the influence of Tarkinyss, that Sladbhein has decided to leave Cormanthor, and seek such adventures for himself. His parents have forbidden him to leave the forest in the past,so Sladbhein knows that he must keep his leaving secret. It is what his family is good at anyways.

So,he snuck out one summer's eve, taking what he felt he needed from his family's stores, and made for Cormyr.Sladbhein travelled through Sembia, and came across what looked to be an abandoned hut in the Arch Wood.Upon entering the hut for shelter,he found that the inside was opulently decorated, and quite a bit larger than the outside appeared to be.A beautiful elven woman was cooking a heavenly stew in the fireplace, and Sladbhein boldly asked if he could share her meal, for he had been eating dried fruits for the last three days.
The elven beauty graciously allowed Sladbhein to stay, and treated him as a prince, even so far as to sharing her bed with him.Sladbhein woke in the morning, fresh and rejuvenated for his continued journey.Turning to thank the woman beside him,he was horrified to see an annis was in her place.Sladbhein hurriedly gathered his possessions to leave,as the annis awoke, and laughed at him."Where are you going,my pretty prince? Not so pretty anymore, are you?".With that, the annis let out a horrific cackle, then disappeared in a puff of blue smoke, leaving Sladbhein half-dressed in her hut.Sladbhein wasted no time in leaving, and continued on to Saerd. He was surprised to find the local folk would stare at him, some children even threw stones at him, calling him 'demon'.Sladbhein camped by a creek, and went to the water in oreder to bathe.
Upon seeing his reflection in the water,he understood why humans looked at him as they did.He was an ugly, emaciated, evil looking thing. He looked like one of the Githzeri from the illusions Tarkinyss would cast. This must have been the doing of the annis,he thought, yet feared her power too much to go back and challenge her. That was ten years ago.Sladbhein is now a little wiser from his travels, and none have sen his face since that day by the creek,as he keeps as fully covered as possible with an oversized cloth cloak. He dreams of home often, but fears to return and face the wrath of his family for leaving Cormanthor.
