History
Griffin Goldenheart is from a very wealthy family in the city of Kressilacc. His father was a very successful fighter who made his first fortune in the areas around Waterdeep and Dragon Spear Castle with the great raid of ‘92 party, which was a large group that made a great amount of money when they found a hidden treasure trove of two large black dragons. They also killed off a less powerful lich and found a large amount of magical items, gems, and old manuals and books from ages past that were sold to various magi, sages, and others that were interested in them. His father knew that he had pressed his luck enough in his adventuring and retired to the island city of Kressilacc. This is where his father met his wife, a cleric of the great god Isthar and settled down. They had six children together and his first child was named Griffin. His father did not sit on his backside and grow old, and he bought a finically strapped coin changing company and turned it into a huge success. The family made their real money in this business, and now owns a small fleet of nine ships, three war ships that escort the other six to areas around the real where the family has coin changing shops. Some of the shops he owns are in Calimport, Murann, Sheirtalar, Bauldur’s Gate, Waterdeep, Never Winter, and even in Evermeet. His father sits on the city counsel, the traders’ guild, and also is a Captain in the city’s militia, and is a generous and well respected man.
However Griffin has been a big disappointment to his family. He has spent his youth as nothing more that a rich spoiled playboy that has done nothing but bring shame and embarrassment to his family’s name. He has not once, but twice gotten a young girl pregnant, and now his family takes care of their first grandchildren, even thought they are bastard children and one is a half elf. His father sent Griffin to the priesthood at age 15 in hopes that some religion would steer him down the right path, but it only turned him more arrogant in his skills when it was discovered that the god Isthar wished for him to become a holy warrior for her. His father was very proud of his son that he would follow in his footsteps as a fighter and adventure, however he worried that his sons arrogance had grown so large that it would consume him. His father paid the temple a huge some of money, over 3000 gold pieces, to send Griffin on a journey to find his place in life and learn how to serve others rather then be waited on by servants. So this is the start of his journey, he has been sent out by the High Priest to find some priest named Shez-Zin and work with him to spread the word of their god, and learn how to be humble. Should the journey be successful, he will inherit all that his father owns, as the right of the first born child, however, should he fail, he will gain nothing, be cut off from all funds, and his father has threatened to take him to the southlands and sell him into slavery (and was only half joking at best about this!) One thing is for sure, it will be quite the journey, that much is for sure! May Isthar watch over him!
