Workaholics

Jay rolled over on his back and stretched...a long, luxurious, feline stretch. He didn't know how long he'd slept. It felt like years since he'd been awake. "Hey, check it out, it lives," a familiar voice said. Sitting around Jay's dining room table playing Trivial Pursuit were Ryan, Amir, Paige and the owner of the voice, Bobby. "Pink or Orange?" Ryan asked. "Orange," Amir answered. "We were beginning to think you'd been drugged or something," Ryan said. "That couch can't possibly be *that* comfortable." Jay was a bit puzzled. "What're you guys-" "We just thought we'd come by and bug ya," Ryan cut him off. Jay blinked, trying to bring the room into focus. "Sorry," he said. I guess I sorta drifted off...what time is it?" "Noon," Paige answered. "Yeah, man, it's a good thing you woke up," Bobby said. "We were about to pull the hose through the window and drench you awake." Jay chucked a throw pillow at him. He threw it back, Jay threw it back, Bobby ducked and it hit Ryan. Ryan took out one of those little Trivial Pursuit triangles and flicked it at Jay. It hit him in the side of the head, he threw it back, Ryan blocked it, it bounced off his arm across the table and hit Paige. Paige flung it back at him, Ryan threw it at Jay, but it hit Amir just as he was standing up. "Hey, watch it, gel-boy," Amir said. Watching the whole thing, Jay was oblivious to Bobby stalking up behind him. Bobby raised the pillow. Ryan stood up next to Amir. "Jay, watch out!" Amir said. Jay turned just in time to get smacked in the head with a pillow. Jay grabbed another couch pillow and swung it at Bobby, hitting him in the back of his head. Bobby swung again, but Jay ducked and Bobby hit Ryan. Ryan didn't say a word, but jumped at Bobby, knocking him onto Jay and the couch. The three of them tumbled onto the floor and broke into a pillow fight, heaving and swinging pillows and shoving each other around. "They look like a bunch of little kids," Amir said, standing next to Paige, who replied, "They do look pretty rediculous, don't they?" Just then a pillow went sailing across the room and smacked both of them. "Oh, hell no," Amir said. He picked up the pillow and dove into the fray, pillow-whacking everyone and everything even remotely near him. The four went on like that, still pillow-swinging and shoving each other around, all the while laughing hysterically until a cold spray of water scattered them like alley cats. One by one, they reappeared: Ryan from behind the couch, Bobby from behind the side of the couch, Amir from behind the curtains and Jay from under the table. Each soaking wet. Paige stood at a window, holding the hose that he'd pulled in. "Wow, that's some water pressure," he said. "He's escalated the war!" Jay said, standing up. He picked up a glass of water that had been sitting on the table and started towards Paige, who didn't see him. Jay reached out his other hand and lightly tapped Paige's shoulder. Paige turned and Jay splashed the water straight at him. With Paige distracted, Jay picked up the hose and sprayed every one of them, especially drenching Paige. The remaining three ran out from their places, and each taking a glass from the kitchen, it turned into an all-out water war. They filled up their glasses in the kitchen sink, the bathroom sink, anywhere there was a faucet, with each one taking control of the hose from another at random. They chased each other around the house, and Bobby was about to fling a glass of water at Jay when Shannon opened the door. "Hey, you guys didn't hear me knock? What's going on in..." she trailed off at the site of the five drenched guys. "Hi," Bobby said. A splash of water hit him from Jay's direction. Shannon tried hard not to laugh. "I'm sorry," she said. "But I just can't help it...you guys look so rediculous...so, are you going to tell me what's been going on in here?" she asked, between giggles. "Oh, you know, the usual," Amir said. "Gambling, devil worship..." "Ritual sacrifices," Paige added. "Wild, wet orgies," Jay said. "Dude," Ryan said. "We *are* a wild, wet Orgy." The joke was cheesy, but it made them all laugh. Eager to get the game going again, Bobby was struck with an idea. "Where's that hose?" he whispered. The five walked over to the window, Bobby picked up the hose and soaked Shannon. She looked up at him. "Care to join us?" he asked, holding the hose with the four others standing behind him. Shannon didn't have to think twice. Jay walked over to her, handed her a glass and took off running. She caught on to the game quick, and eventually they all tired themselves out. They collapsed on the floor, which was now one massive puddle, and one by one, fell asleep. Now that's a hard day's work. ;)
