An ideal machine is one in which the work input equals the work output. An ideal machine doesn't convert any energy into heat.

There are no such things as ideal machines because it is impossible to create a machine with out any friction.

In this model of an ideal machine, notice how the size of the "work input" arrow is the same as the "useful work output" arrow. This means that there is no wasted energy on things like heat energy or sound energy.

Since no energy is wasted, the efficiency of an ideal machine is 100%.
