"The red poppy is a symbol of sacrifice,"
Maxwell, the legion's poppy
remembrance committee secretary,
told QMI Agency.
"It's not a glorification of war."
"Understand, the RED poppy stands
for the SACRIFICE of good men and women,
so that people can voice their opinions freely,
let us honor the ones who died for us with respect,
all should know there is no glory in war and death,"
-Rod Stiebel added these words above.
What is a soldier?!
Often far from home and loved ones,
the soldier walks, sails, or flies
over unfamiliar places
to carve our path
to freedom’s road.
They leave behind
those who sacrifice
on the home front
to raise their children
often alone,
just to provide freedom for us
and with little to no contact
while on call of duty.
To know a soldier is to know it is not all
a game of guts and glory
but of real team work,
selflessness, and perseverance,
tenacity, determination
and a desire to do what is right!
God made many men and women
with this sense of
loyalty bred deep within them.
They sign up or go ignoring feelings
and follow a higher call to mankind;
to maintain freedom!

People come to live in our land
because it is where they can escape oppression,
from even persecution for having a different opinion
to religious leaders or politicians in their homeland.
The extremists caused wars before
because people stood up for what was right.
Today we need to honor those
who still stand ready
for the call of duty
to protect our freedoms today.
God bless you to see and know each soldier has a story;
some people chose not to enter wars
or military ways of keeping global peace…
Extremists will always push the envelope to gain momentum
but we must hold up those who serve to protect.

Lived………Died
Saw
sleep deprivation
lonely
cold
sore
in trenches
on cots,
the night hours
like heavy clouds
followed them.
So many uncertainties,
Sudden sounds
or deadly silence
Was lurking
in the distance
or nearby.
The soldier
alert even at ease.
They sweat
feel dirty,
thirsty, and hungry,
no place
to place their head
in combat;
they sleep
sitting up
or standing upright!
They see all kinds of
rodents, bugs, dangers
diseases, death.
YET
Their food,
is and was
the need to see justice
brought to light
so all could live free.
To keep alive a moment at a time
Their silence today echoes the past
Their sacrifice and story must survive.
They can never die
Nor fade away
Forever we REMEMBER
Forever, Noble men and women
You live on Thank You!
