Minds

One does not meet people, one
encounters minds. People are a base set
of body types. Minds are the only thing
that differ people, by using an intellect that has diverse variations even in
those at the average. The most
interesting occur at the extremes where nature is testing different genetic
traits on those at the extreme highs and lows of the population, to figure out
what is best at survival in the changing environment, as an effort to protect
the survival of the general population in succeeding generations. The ones whom survive are generally those
whom have the strength, intellect, foresight and will to persist through the
changing environment, both physical and culture-induced; and also must be able
to reproduce and/or teach the following generation the basics of life and how to
adapt when the known world changes variably through the progression of
time.
There is an upcoming crunch if the population gets to be
too many for the living environment to support, as it will change the
intellectual biology to adapt. I can
already see it starting in the people I meet, and the new intellect creeping
into the media towards the general public as this intellectual evolution
progresses. But this time it is
different than other times as our awareness of and effect on the greater
universe ever-increases due to the ingenuity and flexibility of the human mind,
the brain muscle, we have marvelous technologies allowing perception and
communication through complex though simple means; the voice box to ear, drums
across large distances, smoke signals, mail, telegraph, telephone, radio waves,
internet, wireless, and satellite internet, what next? All requiring mental ability to discover,
create, design, test and teach, though simple once learned. Without, civilization would not have come
about. The minds of wild animals are
becoming aware of the human population-induced problems, and are adapting to
the best of their ability to survive, learning from the cues of humans. Most will not likely adapt enough, and will
perish, but some of these creatures will find a wide ecological niche and adapt
as induced by further changes in the living environment. The human-induced degradation of the
environment affects all earth-bound life, not just Homo sapiens-sapiens,
and therefore other species will try to adapt.
In this sense human conscious choices will be what the future
adaptations will need be, the mind rather than body… well, actually the earthbound
body would be required to adapt less than the mind, as our species has evolved
to do prior to the new digital revolution, and the new science. This trait has obviously been growing until
now, but only in the past few decades have we had the mental ability to
conceive of and build the institutional and social infrastructure, to have such
an option as changing such a large portion as the planet’s surface environment,
though past civilizations do mirror this trend and knowledge of the increase in
population and technology as new lands are found. The thing, I think, that best illustrates the
difference in ability is both in building and destruction. Never in the past (prior to atomic), have we
been able to both destroy the living environment of our entire species, but we
also have the ability to save such a high percentage of the population from the
high hazards of living by designing a free culture that provides the necessary
infrastructure in a safe living environment for intellectual stimulus to occur
between minds, and necessary nutrition for the body to comfortably
survive. This will occur when there is
sufficient intellect and will in the world for it to develop. Technology is a tool, a means to move our
species forward and expand our territory.
Its use is based on those in control, and what is at stake they wish to
protect, monetary and power interests, or open economy and freedom for the
people, I’m not implying anarchy, but a more liberal and intellectual society
than current conditions reining.
[I can visualize my own life over the past few months,
escalating in evolution as I learn more, quicker, of my place in this universe,
and adapt to increase the chances of survival in as many of the possible future
environments as may occur.]
We must maintain the human elements, and teach people how
to reduce disparity. The effect this
should have is to replace mundaneity with optimism based on truth and zest for
life.
We are children learning fast as new toys hurt us, and so
newer toys that cause less/no harm must be made; along with a matured
intellectual mindset in the leaders of this species.
