William the Bastard: 1038 to 1047
Arriving at Le Havre you take ship with as many of your household as you can manage to get aboard. It is a weary and small body of exiles who finally arrive at king Edward's court. He is gracious and sympathetic. But there is nothing he can do. Normandy dissolves in anarchy without a strong ruler. King Henry cannot do anything by himself, and you are without means. Any attempt to return now would be suicidal. You have missed your chance to obtain your patrimony.
