William the Conqueror: 1061 to 1066

Putting out to sea in a choppy crosswind, it soon becomes evident that this will not only scatter your fleet along the southern coast of England, but you will have exhausted men trying to contend with waiting Englishmen; your losses in the crossing will be heavy.
Turn back to shelter in the Dives and wait.
Run before the wind and make for the Somme estuary, where you will be closer to England anyway.
