You remain in close contact with the royal army, but out of sight except for scouting parties. When Anjou and the king arrive at a ford near the mouth of the Dives, they begin to cross over to the right bank. But the tide comes in and cuts their army in half. Those remaining on the left (west) bank are easy meat when you bring your entire army down upon them. In helpless rage, the king of France and the count of Anjou watch as you cut their trapped army to pieces. Henry beats a hasty retreat at once, and Normandy is free of invaders.

Maine is a mess. Count Conan of Brittany wants a piece of it, and Geoffrey of Anjou's sons are carving it up too, along with daddy. But there is a silver lining: king Henry and you are invited by the bishop of Amiens to a peace conference, where he intends to negotiate an end to the long war.
