From the instant he first appeared on the Indy Car scene in 1983, Teo Fabi earned a reputation of being quiet, confident and very competitive.

As many long time followers of Indy Car recall, it was the Team Forsythe/Fabi duo that arrived for the 1983 Indianapolis 500, then shocked fans and fellow competitors alike by earning that years pole position. Although a faulty fuel filter (a part valued at only a few dollars) sidelined the newcomer after only 47 laps, Teo led most of those laps and won the "Rookie of the Year" award. He would go on to win four races and score five pole postions that season, finishing second in the championship by just five points. Not bad for a someone new to Indy Car.

Since those days of the early 1980`s, Teo has both challenged and had challenges. Three seasons in Formula One would be competitive, although winless. And the potential that was to be for Fabi`s 1988 return to Indy Cars with the highly touted Porsche factory team would succumb to the forces of behind the scenes politics much of this was due to Roger Penske and economic woes, scoring three poles and one win over three seasons.

An extremely humble man he was trained as an aeronautical engineer with a degree from the Institute of Technology in Milan. He raced motorcycles prior to four-wheel career and was a downhill ski racer 1970-74. Married to wife Gloria has son Stefano born 12th Jan 1983 and daughter Marina born 4th Nov 1989.
