Starring: Gary Shandling, Annette Bening, John Goodman, Greg Kinnear

Rated: AA for tits, language, penis humming

Plot: An alien (Shandling) from a planet full of men is sent by their leader to Earth to find a woman, mate with her and bring back a baby to the planet. Problem is it's not as easy as the alien thinks it is. After meeting a woman at an AA Meeting (Bening), the alien dupes her into a marriage, then actually begins to have feelings for her.

My Take: Good cast, Decent idea, ok movie. There certainly was a lot of potential for this movie. I mean I glanced at the cast, the trailers were good, but this movie really just went nowhere. In fact, I don't even think it's going to break the 10 million barrier for ticket sales. I don't see why this flick was avoided by people, if you want a good chuckle, then go check this one out.

I never was a real big fan of Gary Shandling's Larry Sanders show, but I've heard about it, and some people are complaining that this film is lacking a certain EDGE to it, a more perverted edge I guess. I mean, sure it is kinda perverted with the penis humming going on and off every so often, but I guess some people were kind of expecting a few 'sperm' and 'pussy' jokes to get thrown in there in the mix of things. Personally, I don't think 'sperm' or 'pussy' jokes would have done much for the film.

Directed more towards the adult audience, I still found myself laughing at most of the jokes in the flick. I also had a lot of chuckles at Shandling's facial expressions and his attempts during the first bit of the flick. I guess you could say I enjoyed the first 45 minutes of this film, then the rest of it kind of got into a love story with a FAMILY ending. It was also dragged on a bit at the end. I mean this movie could have been done in about 80 minutes, and I would have been happy, but they dragged it out 30 minutes too long, and i was twitching around in my seat waiting for the bugger to end.

All of the performances were played well, the only one that I thought stood out was John Goodman as the guy solving the alien phenomenon that has landed on earth. Goodman, looks to have porked on a few more pounds since the last time I saw him. Kinnear as the sleazy business partner with Shandling was also done well, and was one of the characters I was mainly interested in. As for the 'chicks' in this flick, if your into the 40+ hottie club, you've got Annette Bening, and Linda Fiorentino (Kinnear's wife in the movie). Both do a good job, Bening as the recovering alcoholic, and Fiorentino as the knockout babe who's married to Kinnear for god knows why?!

So if you want to see a movie that dishes out a laugh here and there, then I suggest you go check it out, I mean check it out soon since it probably won't be in theaters long, or wait 4 months and you could probably pick it up on Video/DVD.
