Starring: Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, Tony Todd

Rated: R for gory death scenes, language, pullout tit shot

Plot: A teen (Sawa) while boarding a plane to Paris, envisions the plane crashing just after take off, so he gets himself and some of his school buddies kick off the plane. What happens? The plane blows up, and supposedly the teens have cheated death. That means the 'thing' they call the grim reaper is unleashed and is out to get the teens who cheated death, and the only way they can avoid death, is to change the pattern of who is NEXT!

My Take: Innovative, Creative and freaky. A flick that I never got bored of, and always kept me on the edge of my seat. I don't know why this film got trashed by the movie critics. I mean, in a time where most of the 'teen-slasher' flicks are fuckin awful, this one stands out as the best 'teen-slasher' flick since 'I Know What You Did Last Summer". The cast was built up of nobodies, who are featured in other teen movies, but the acting was solid, and believable. I mean, do we know when we are supposed to go? Does DEATH have a plan for everyone to die? That's what this film is about. How many movies have that motive?

As for creative, the death scenes are like no other, and they are creepy, but a few of them are drawn out. And one of them is just ludicrous (the scene with Devon Sawa and Ali Later in her garage, with the sparks). But c'mon, the bus one had EVERYONE shocked and I'm not ashamed to say, laughing. As for the other deaths, never have I seen some creativeness.

One scene needs to be deleted though, it had no importance, and that was the one with Tony Todd (Remember Candyman?) when he's talking to two of the teens about how 'death' is out to get them, and that 'death' has a pattern. I mean, it was important I guess to the movie, but the cameo appearance was not needed, and it just happened outta nowhere.

The only really problem I had with the movie was with the character Carter (Kerr Smith). He was a real ass, and unbelievable at some points, like "I'm never going to die ever" or some bullshit along that line. He was supposed to be the 'bad-ass' i assume, but he didn't have me convinced. Devon Sawa impressed me a hell of a lot, I mean this is the second time he's headlined a movie, this one being more of a headlining role than Idle Hands, and I was impressed with his acting, It was a really strong performance, and I think he's ready to headline more films, hopefully not all of em are going to be teen flicks though.

I wish there were more 'creative' flicks like this, and one that are ACTUALLY scary. I mean, at some points I was cringing in my seat, and worried at what would happen next. I mean you can predict when someone is going to die, but how and when the EXACT moment they will get it is what gets ya. Much respect to the cast and crew for putting on a great flick.
