candyjar
left to bleed the grey of their forefathers
to pump amber blood into their veins
paint somber shades across their face
clone kids and candyjars
a thousand sticky fingers...
a thousand years of youth at heart
but where are they to linger?
with their pupils specked
throughout the sky
no matter how the dots connect
the portrait of the ethers’ eye
you name them suns, your moons, your planets
titans of an inward gamut
but they remain forever tamed
by their failure to be
the heaven to a dire earth
how they bend around this coiled world
to blend the hues of boy and girl
candyskin and gelatin
a sugar-sweetened
sufferance
but what of souls
unempathetic?
candy-coated diabetics
with swallowed tongues
they speak not of
their mantras by-and-by unsung
untrue to thine own selfish eye
seek not what thou can not deny
believe not that which thou belie
repent for what thou can’t defy
forget not that which cast thy dais
into the fate by which they die
