the agnostic
allows God to exist in his own
private sea of clouds
without asking
forgiveness of sin,
or disclosing a prayer to keep his heart
safe at night.
twice as humble
as a “true” Christian
and half as likely
to think in one dimension,
he is
well aware of his
unawareness
toward the supernatural;
he knows his misunderstanding
marks the limit
of what can be understood.
predestined fate is a companion
to his life,
for God himself is only a pawn
of a much larger
Thing
that writes the script of the universe,
that calculates each and every
movement of ions
stars
and planets
with flawless precision,
a Thing which is too vast to be given
a name
or a face,
too wide and infinite to be idolized
or even pondered.
the agnostic is God’s best friend,
independent,
willing to live and die
for himself and he alone,
unassuming
of his fellow Man
and though God shall save him no slice
of heaven
once this life has run its course,
it is for the better.
he himself knows that
a wanderer has more important things to do
than spend an eternity
watching the stars with a glass eye.
