if you take
a closer look at the sky
while
daydreaming at midnight,
sometimes in the midst
of that infinite
matrix of points,
you might wonder
if another pair of inquisitive
eyes is taking a closer
look at you,
from behind the telescope,
drawing the
outlines of your
sparkling beauty in its lens,
fixing the hues so
perfectly that your best
features stand
out against the twilight,
and you might wonder this
when you’re about to burst
for lack of being
in the moment, never able
to receive pleasure from the
casual musings of another so alien,
so distant,
watching ever so closely
from behind the microscope,
and snickering at how
quaint the
universe seems
when two pairs of eyes
can stare at
one another from seemingly
so far away, and grow so close,
and still appear to be
moving
farther apart
