Review by Laura Ward

'It's not the size of the crowd, it's the fucking heart of the crowd' Tairrie spits emotionally to the crowd gathered to see her in the main room of Rock City. Too many for the small room but too few to make the big room look full, but size really doesn't matter.

It is difficult to believe that Tairrie has only been away for a year or so. Since she last walked on this stage a lot has changed, but most impressively of all is her stage manner. Renowned for being strong minded and capable of blowing any man off stage she has come back with renewed vigour.

The band are tight and a lot heavier than on record. Even the melancholic trance of Beautiful Flower sounds heavy. Tairrie sings each song with the feeling in her eyes and soul, she thrashes around on the floor, on her knees, as close to the fans as possible and you kinda get the feeling she'd be the same in front of 20 or 2000 people. There is also a little humour thrown in for good measure, a little dig at Korn without mentioning the band's name, and mention about spanking a Nottingham based band.

Highlight of the show has to be a mind blowing version of Snot's 'Stoopid', a dedication to her late friend Lynn Strait. It also provides a short moment of sadness as Tairrie's voice breaks and her eyes water.. that is until somone screams 'SNOT!' and she smiles..'you can't do that, you make me sound like a girl!'.

Terror, Monster and Sick With It all flow easily - bassist Meghan Mattox is worthy of some attention here. The band, understandably could have been nervous but it didn't show. Meghan and Lance exchange playful grins as often as his eyes glance at guitarist Melanie 'she's sexy, huh?' Makaiwi.

Biggest cheers go out to the older Tura Satana material that is played. Given time the new stuff will be just as important. Tairrie leaves with her hand on her heart and a smile on her face. Maybe this won't be her ruin after all...
