Sailor Scout Role: Leader

First Appearance: Episode 1- "A Moon Star is Born"

It's hard to believe this fourteen-year-old girl with the unusual hairdo is a superheroine, but she is the one: Sailor Moon.

You'd have every reason to believe she isn't Sailor Moon. She's a heavy sleeper and is almost always late for school. She just loves to eat (especially when she doesn't have to pay), is a video game addict, goes crazy laughing over comics, and can't stop thinking of cute guys. She's also a big cry baby.

However, Serena has one positive quality that makes her a force to be reckoned with: her love and compassion. She's always concerned for her friends and always strives to help them when they're in trouble. This gives Serena (Sailor Moon) her strength, and, although the other Scouts resent her being leader at times, they have to admit that she comes through in the clutch, especially when her friends are in danger.

Now if only she'd learn a little more about responsibility . . . .

Transformations

Moon Prism Power
First episode used in: #1-A Moon Star is Born
Unlike the other Sailor Scouts, Serena uses a locket to transform nstead of a pen.

Serena has the locket on her bow most of the time, but sometimes it just dangles from her neck or sits in her pocket. At the necessary time, she thrusts her arm into the air and shouts, "Moon Prism Power!" Then, the locket does its work. First she gets her nails done. After blinking twice, beams of light shoot out from the locket. They form the top part of the suit, then the red boots, and finally the blue skirt. Then, the stone in her tiara (or birthmark) on her forhead begins to glow. She spins around, and her tiara appears, followed by the broaches in her hair. Finally, she strikes her pose, facing forward, legs shoulder width apart, left arm at her waist, right hand to her forehead, saluting the Moon. A white crescent moon is in the background.

Moon Star Power/Moon Crystal Power
First episode used in: #45-Cherry Blossom Time
Sailor Moon was defeated by one of Alan and Ann's cardians. The cardian shattered the locket, and then Serena disappeared. In her mind, Queen Serenity helped her out. She gave Princess Serena the Imperium Silver Crystal back, and put it in Serena's brokenlocket. The locket was re-energized, but the crystal had not regained its full power. Serena could once again transform into Sailor Moon.

Serena taked the locket in her hand and holds it in the air, shouting, "Moon Crystal Power!" She puts the locket on her chest and spins around a few times. Then, the crystal shoots out beams of energy which form a pair of wings and the top part of her suit. The wings spread out and disappear. She puts her arms into the air, and her gloves are formed, followed by her skirt. Then, she spins around one time, as a ribbon ties itself onto the back of her skirt. Her tiara appears, followed by the broaches in her hair. Finally she strikes her pose, facing forward, her left arm at her waist, right hand to her forehead, saluting the moon. A large, white crescent moon is in the background. A red rose is on the moon.

The words "Moon Crystal Power" are the ones usually spoken.

Special Powers

Moon Tiara Magic
First episode used in: #1-A Moon Star is Born
Using the magic of her tiara, Sailor Moon turns her enemies into Moon dust. Also, she can use the tiara to trap people (or other creatures). This worked most of the time, but there are a few exceptions, such as against Jedite and Nephlite's "Leo the Lion" monster. Finally, it proved to be too weak to defeat Alan and Ann's cardians.

Sailor Moon takes the tiara from around her forehead, and holds it in her hand. As it glows, she spins around (either to power it up or just to show it off before she releases it, I don't really know). Then she winds up, and throws it, just like a frisbee, and shouts, "Moon Tiara Magic!"

Moon Healing Activation
First episode used in: #21-Jupiter Comes Thundering In
The Crescent Moon Wand, given to Serena by Luna, was utilized during the search for the Rainbow Crystals, it also changed ordinary people who were turned into Negaverse monsters back to themselves again.

Sailor Moon takes out the Crescent Moon Wand and holds it up to her face. A red light in the center of the wand begins to glow (after the Imperium Silver Crystal is in the wand, energy begins to swirl around the crystal also). Then, she moves the wand in a circle, while saying, "Moon Healing Activation!" The Negaverse monsters scream in pain then revert to human form.

Cosmic Moon Power
First Episode used in: #31-A Reluctant Princess
When Sailor Moon received the Imperium Silver Crystal, a new power was granted to her. When used with the Moon Wand, almost anything could be accomplished. And with Sailor Moon (or Princess Serena) wielding that power, the Negaverse is in for some trouble.

Sailor Moon (or Princess Serena) takes out the Crescent Moon Wand and holds it up in the air. Beams of energy shoot out in all directions from the Imperium Silver Crystal. A shield of energy forms around her, as the power of the crystal repels the evil forces nearby.

Moon Sceptre Elimination/Activation
First episode used in: #45-Cherry Blossom Time
When Sailor Moon returned after her defeat, she found that she needed a new weapon to defeat the enemy. Queen Serenity came to her aid, giving her the Moon Sceptre.

Sailor Moon holds the Moon Sceptre in the air. A full moon is in the background. Beams of light come out from the top of the sceptre. She spins around once, swinging the sceptre. Then she freezes, and holds the sceptre horizontally across her face. She swings the sceptre back and forth a few more times, saying, "Moon Sceptre . . ." Then she stands with her legs together, and points the sceptre at her target, and says, ". . . Elimination (usually Activation)!" Crescent moons and beams of energy shoot tooward the enemy.

Moon Crystal Healing Activation
First episode used in: #63-Enemies No More
This special power was used by Sailor Moon to turn the Four Sisters into normal humans, destroying all the negative energy, emotions, and thoughts that they possessed.

Sailor Moon holds her Imperium Silver Crystal in the air, and says, "Moon Crystal Healing Activation!" Then, the target of the power infusion begins to spin around, as the light engulfs them. The light clears, and the evil disappears.

In "Sibling Rivalry," the words "Moon Crystal Healing Power" were used.

Disguise Power
First episode used in: #2-Talk Radio
The Luna Pen, given to Serena by Luna, allows Serena to disguise herself when necessary. Luna told her that it's only for Scout business, but, on many occasions, Serena used it for her own personal reasons. (For example, she tried to play a joke on Raye by disguising herself as a fortune teller and telling Chad to give Raye a kiss!)

Serena holds the Luna Pen in the air and shouts, "Disguise Power!," followed by whatever she wants to transform into. Then, beams of light shoot from the pen, surround Serena, and create the disguise.

Here's a list of disguises Serena has used so far

Episode #2-A sophisticated talent agent
Episode #5-A school superintendant
Episode #7-A flight attendant . . . or something
Episode #9-A sporty-looking photographer
Episode #13-A totally gorgeous bride, like in the magazines
Episode #18-The foxiest fem around
Episode #26-Fortune teller/Matchmaker
Episode #46-A wicked cool kindergarten teacher

These are Sailor Moon's powers and transformations in future series!

Sailor Moon S
Moon Cosmic Power, make-up!
This is the third transformation Serena uses to transform. After "Moon Crystal Power" stops working, Serena and Darien's power of love created her new broach and let her transform again.

Moon Spiral Heart Attack
Sailor Moon says this when her heart rod generates a spiral to destroy an opponent. This attack was pretty neat since it involved Sailor Moon doing this nifty spin. She used it to destroy daimons in the first half of the third season, but eventually this attack wasn't powerful enough to defeat later MOTD's (Monster-of-the-Day), (like when Eudial's Fire Buster deflected the attack).

Crisis, make-up!
This is her double transformation; Sailor Moon says this to transform into Super Sailor Moon with the Holy Grail.

Sailor Moon Super S
Moon Crisis, make-up!
Serena says this to transform into Super Sailor Moon (with Super Sailor Chibi Moon). Serena couldn't transform into Super Sailor Moon anymore since the Holy Grail was destroyed, but Pegasus gave her the power to do it.

Moon Gorgeous Meditation
Super Sailor Moon says this to generate a blast from her kaleid-moon-scope. This attack many fans believe is the coolest, since it lets you see sevveral vies of Sailor Moon performing the attack at the same time. In Sailor Moon Super S, Super Sailor Moon performed this attack with Super Sailor Chibi Moon.

Sailor Stars
Moon Eternal, make up! Serena says this to transform to Eternal Sailor Moon. In the beginning of the season, this power couldn't be achieved until Serena had transformed to Super Sailor Moon, and then all the Sailors had to combine their power. Eventually, Serena creates her own brooch and transforms by herself.

Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss
Eternal Sailor Moon says this to return a monster to a human being with beams from her Eternal Moon Tial. This is claimed to be the most boring attack, since she doesn't do much while performing it.

Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss
This is the power that Chibi Chibi Moon granted her by upgrading her Eternal Moon Tial. Eternal Sailor Moon still uses this to return a monster to a human, but this attack is a lot more powerful.
