BIOGRAPHY:Merklynn, is an old man with a large white beard and balding head. Despite this, he is the most powerful magic user in Prysmos. This didn't mean much in the age of electricity and computers, but it now does in the age of magic. He is a neutral person and tries to not be biased. He was like this at first, with both the Darkling Lords and the Spectral Knights. However, the Darkling Lord's evil intentions became known and Merklynn choses "not to socialise" with them. In the cartoon, Darkstorm made an attempt to steal his orb but it created so much havoc to the world that he feaked out and ran back to Merklynn before the end of the world!
Merklynn's powers are so great, he can withstand attacks from any of the Visionaries. He seems to have a cold exterior, a bit of a man-hater, who have created wars, but deep down he is really king, and knows good when he sees it.
Merklynn is weary of other wizards, maybe he is competitive? However, the wizards he deals with are evil like Falkama and the wonderfully named Weezasqueeza, and they get thrown in his wizard jail. He's fair so he let wizard Bogavus go, as he didn't appear to be evil and passed the Test of Truth, where if he was lying he was not a true wizard, he would spontaneously combust by Merklynn's magic.
Why does Merklynn want to give out these magical powers to these Knights? Probably to act as guardians of the world and to protect it. But also for his own quests like the "Quest for the Dragon's Eye" episode.
He became friendly with the Spectral Knights, giving them a present for their obedience, "the Crystal of Protection".
There is no specific reason why he wanted them given magical powers. In the comic, he began to fade and die. If he died, the world would be in serious trouble. Merklynn was maybe scared to tell them the real reason, or they might no take the quest that would be warranted. Sadly, the comic spluttered to an abrupt stop before this story was completed. Thats the the sorry tale of the Visionaries, stopped before they could gain any more momentum. And you just have live with that, i guess.
