Green Sanctuary Committee Meeting

June 6th, 2006

Attendance: Tom Swigart, Sandra Smith-Gill, Marney Bruce, Chris Hodge

Sandi read the opening blessing.

Action Plan
-----------

A few small changes were suggested for the GS certification action plan.
The next step is to get all the action leaders and potential leader
together to approve the plan and establish a more accurate time lines.

Greening Projects
-----------------

Sandi suggested buying some Techno trash cans for recycling. She will purchase
a set of three to see how it goes.

We need to get greener dish washing detergent for the kitchen.


Wildflower Garden
-----------------

Some plants are coming up.

We need a new hose to be able to better reach the area for watering.


Fair Trade Sales
----------------

Sandi provided treasurer's report for the FT sales. We have a large 
inventory in place, so future looks good. We will have a just few major
sales this year.

Budget
------

Our official committee budget will be $400 again this year.

Adopt-a-road trash pick-up
--------------------------

Next pick-up June 10th, then in September.

Table-top
---------

June/July - sustainable transportation and car pooling (Marney)
Aug/Sep - certification process (Tom)

Bird Boxes
----------

Marney learned from Meg Menke how to open bird boxes. 

She has seen bluebirds and swallows.

All the birds have fledged!

We need monitors to decide when to clean the boxes.

Sierra Club
-----------

Chris reported several items concerning the local Sierra Club chapter:

A showing of "Kilowatt Ours" at the library on the 8th at 7:00 p.m.

Monthly happy hours the 2nd Tuesday.

Various area hikes.
