Green Sanctuary Committee Meeting February 6th, 2007 Attendance: Tom Swigart, Sandra Smith-Gill, Chris Hodge Earth Day --------- We hoped to be able to attend Earth Day activities at Baker Park, but once again there is no activity planned there this year. The ministerial candidate will be sermonizing on April 22nd and 29th, so we will just play on the fringe this year. We will try to have a full service next year. Movie Presentation ------------------ We will be showing "Kilowatt Ours" on March 4th after the second service. We have a projector (donated by Tom). We will bring food to serve. Friendly Forum -------------- On March 11th Marney will be leading the discussion on the UU statement of conciousness process, which this year concerns global warming. Wildflower Plots ---------------- We will concentrate on fixing and widening existing plots this year with a few new plots as well. Seeing the Light! ----------------- Sandi will be attending the BOT to try to persuade them to allow the GS to sell compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) at the GS fair trade table and through orders. We should be able to match store prices, make money for UUCF, reduce carbon emissions, and teach the congregation about reducing energy usage. GWIPL sells 100, 75, and 60 watt equivalents that use 20-25% of the energy of incandescent bulbs. There is some concern about mercury in the bulbs, so we will provide recycling for anyone who buys them from us. Vegetarian Potluck ------------------ The Friendly Forum topic for May 6th will be vegetarianism. Tom will coordinate a potluck that day with the forum leader, the membership committee, and the calendar folks. Elmer Derr Road --------------- The next Elmer Derr Road trask pick-up is scheduled for March 31st. ------------------------------------------ The next meeting is March 6th at 7:00 p.m.
