S4C
S4C is a commercial terrestrial
station.
The program content covers
many genre’s. There are two versions of this channel. An analogue one and a
digital one (S4C Digidol). S4C analogue shows a mixture of English and Welsh
language programs, whereas S4C Digidol shows only Welsh language programs. The
English content is mostly just a time-shift of Channel 4 including general entertainment,
soaps, game shows, reality TV shows, comedy, kids, news, affairs, sport,
lifestyle, documentaries, culture, movies and much more. The Welsh content
includes Welsh culture, documentaries, soaps, music programs and general entertainment.
Basically, similar sort of programs as Channel 4 but in the Welsh language. S4C
originally covered Wales on analogue terrestrial with a mixture of English and
Welsh programs, but now a new all Welsh version has been launched UK wide on digital
platforms. S4C is in theory the fourth channel in Wales where Channel 4 serves
this purpose for the rest of the UK. Channel 4 is only available on digital
platforms in Wales (unless a signal can be received from an English
transmitter).
