BBC World Service

 

Text Box:  BBC World Service is a national station for the UK (and beyond) owned by the BBC.

The program content includes mostly speech and some music. Most programs are in English, but some are aired in other languages such as French, German and Spanish as well. The programs include news, affairs, documentaries and world cultures. The service on 648 kHz is the European continental version. On the UK digital platforms it’s the UK version. BBC World Service is also available on short wave.

                                     

Frequencies

AM: MW 648 kHz in continental Europe and South East England, SW 5975, 6195, 9410 and 12095 kHz. Also is available at night on Radio 4 frequencies.

DAB: On ‘BBC National’ multiplex on frequency block 12B in most of the UK

Sky: Channel 865

Other satellites: Eutelsat Hotbird 6, Astra 1H and Worldspace Afristar.
