Frequency Table Abbreviations Key

Ch

DAB Band III channel block number. One multiplex is receivable on each block, there are seven blocks between 11B and 12D. Click here to refer channel numbers to frequencies.

Multiplex

The name of the multiplex that is carried on a channel block number or the multiplex name that a service is carried on.

S

Signal strength colour indicator:

Very likely to receive with an indoor aerial, multiplexes covering the selected region are highlighted in green.

Fairly likely to receive with an indoor aerial, may require a larger or outdoor aerial in some areas of the selected city.

Unlikely to receive with an indoor aerial in most areas of the selected city. An outdoor aerial may or may not improve reception.

Please be aware that this signal indicator may not be 100% accurate and should be used as a rough guide only. The limit of up to 7 multiplexes in each area means that the same channel blocks may be used for multiplexes in adjacent areas reducing the chance of good reception. The signal strength is dependant on your exact location, the quality of aerial being used and the direction the aerial is pointing. The site owner will hold no responsibility for any disappointment that may occur as a result of using this as a guide.

Area

Multiplex's coverage area.

This is the multiplex's full UK DAB coverage area and not the transmitters coverage area.

Label The service or multiplex name shown on the radio display. This can be of up to 16 characters and is used to select which service to tune to. This method is used instead of tuning in frequencies on an FM/AM radio.

Trans

Therefore, the three most likely receivable transmitters are listed here. Useful to estimate the aerial's direction.

xx-yy – where xx represents the time when the service goes on air and yy represents the time when the service goes off air (to the nearest hour).

Bitrate/Datarate Bitrate: The audio quality that the service is broadcast and whether it is in mono or stereo. The higher the level, the better the sound quality. 192kBit/s (stereo) or 96kBit/s (mono) is about CD quality.

Datarate: Has the same technical definition as Bitrate but for data services indicates approximately how fast the download speed is. It depends on the content of the data service as well however.
