Nanchang: November 14, 2005

Follow our Blog for China Updates, too!

We have been very busy with appointments so I am sorry for the lack of updates.

Yesterday, we took a tour of the Provincial Museum and then went to Porcelain Row. The museum was interesting, but, they only put the lights on each room as you enter. It was kind of strange.

We then took a ride to where they sell porcelain. This province is known for its porcelain works. We saw porcelain that was made back in the 100s. It was truly amazing. We also got to see some Ming Vases. Believe it or not, the day we went to the museum and the porcelain places it did not rain! LOL! Once we got back to the hotel, we put Elizabeth down for a nap and took one ourselves. We went down to the inadequate buffet in this hotel...it is quick and easy.

Today we had our final appointment in Nanchang. Of course....it poured, AGAIN! It is so humid here, and wet. Nothing seems to ever feel dry. We got the baby's passport. The notary office was packed with adoptive parents. We were supposed to be in and out, but they did not have the passports ready. We were hot and wet. The babies were good for a little bit, then the screaming started. None of us had brought bottles because it was only supposed to be 30 minutes. Thank God we had Cheerios. I gotta tell you, these babies have never had Cheerios, but they love them. Elizabeth can't get enough!

Our guide ordered Pizza Hut pizzas for us when we got back....believe me, it tastes like home.

Baby Pizza Party

We are so sick of Chinese food. S I C K!!! We can't wait for a Greenman's hoagie, pizza steak and sausage & peppers....potato chips, Doritos, and even I want a beer!!! Can you tell we are hungry?!!! LOL! After lunch, Cathy went down to the conference room for some paperwork which our guide will take to the Consulate tomorrow when we arrive in Guangzhou.

Elizabeth has had a bad rash since we got her. We have been treating it with various medications. Today, though, it seemed worse. We got concerned because tomorrow, after we arrive in Guangzhou, we go to the medical exam for the babies. We called our guide and he said we should go to the hospital. This really was our fear when we came here. Going to a foreign hospital. Thank God for our guide. He took us right to the hospital which is a short distance from the hotel. We got to see a doctor right away. She was very nice. Basically, the baby has dermatitis. She gave us an iodine bath to give her for the next three days and some bactroban (antibiotic) to clear up any of the open scratches. Elizabeth loves her bath, so it was easy for us to bath her.

Happy Elizabeth

I See You!

You really don't know how fortunate we are to live in the USA. Our medical care is so much better than here. When we walked into the hospital, the doctors and nurses were smoking and there were open windows everywhere. The exam room was very primative, but the doctor was very nice. We don't want our families to worry. She is fine and the rash has calmed down quite a bit!

Well, time to pack. We leave the hotel tomorrow at 8:00 a.m., sharp! I promise an update tomorrow. Enjoy the pictures.
