Can you believe we only have a little over 3 months of school left? I can't!!!! You almost have a big 6th grader!!!!!!!! I really HATE to give up this class.

 

We are doing lit circle books again, so we will not do a book report this month. Your child should have 2 literature circle books, an AR, and a free read by the first week in March. They will write a summary response on those 4.

 

Please make sure your child turns in all of their homework. Why would a child do the work and not turn it in? It happens quite frequently.

 

HOMEWORK WILL NOT BE TAKEN LATE ANYMORE!!! This is not teaching responsibility. Homework is accepted late if the child has an excused absence.

 

An additional sheet should be sent home from our grade level, but I know many of you want to know about our trip to Huntsville, Mach 19th. Please be at the school by 7:15. WE ARE LEAVING AT 7:30!!!!! WE CAN'T WAIT ON STRAGGLERS BECAUSE OF OUR SCHEDULE AT THE SPACE CENTER. We will return by 5. Please pick your child up by 5 or they will go to after school care. Students are allowed to wear caps, sunglasses, and can tae cameras into the museum. Since it is a two hour ride, students may bring hand-held games, but they can't take them into the museum. the games have to stay on the bus.    I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST, MISPLACED, or DAMAGED GAMES. If these items are important to your child- they do not need to bring them. Hopefully, our bus will have a VCR. I doubt it will have a DVD player. If your child wants to bring some videos to watch- that is fine. In the past the bus drivers have always locked the bus when we would be in the museum.

 

Children should follow the dress code and wear comfortable shoes. some students purchased 5th grade t-shirts at the beginning of the year. these were bought to wear on field trips and special activity days. This is not required since not all students purchased one and some students want "NEW" clothes for the trip.

 

Lunch was included in the field trip price- so you do not have to pack a lunch. If the students want to eat on the bus that is fine. Please do not send any glass items.

 

Money for souvenirs is optional, but there are two gift shops and food vendors.

 

Please talk to your child about having their best behavior on the field trip as well as at school.

 

Do not forget to send $12 for Award's Day.

 

Your child will need to dress nice for the banquet and Award's Day (Sunday attire) May 13 (banquet-students only- in lunchroom) and May 14 (Award's Day)

 

Don't forget cookie dough orders--- money order forms due before spring break.
