"I wish this was real . . . " The 10 year old Lily Evans thought while reading her favorite book in the early summer late evening, about magical worlds and creatures, wizards and witches. Everything that wasn't real, "Or was it?", she mused. Lily turned the thought over and over in her mind. "But it could be possible...right?" she spoke aloud into the calm warm June air, trying to convince herself that this wasn't just "nonsense", as her sister Petunia had called it earlier that day...

"Nonsense! this isn't nonsense! It's creative, and...and "she yelled back at Petunia that day. "and what?", Petunia said icily. "She had almost said it was real..." Lily had thought. "And better than any stories you've ever read!", Lily said back just as icily. Then as Petunia stomped off, "not that you've read one book in your life for pleasure", Lily muttered under her breath as she walked to her room.

She flipped through her book again, stopping once or twice, reading intently. I wish I were there, with all of the excitement and wondrous magical phenomenon. To be a witch!" a shiver of delight ran down her spine. "Well for one thing, I could turn Petunia into a toad and not have to deal with her anymore..." the thought if the look on Petunia's face right before Lily would curse her, made Lily grin deviously." That would be a hilarious sight!",Lily said aloud. "Mum would probably freak! But I bet dad would laugh when mum wasn't looking."

"Ah well, I should really be going to sleep now...but on the other hand, my birthday's in 5 MINUTES!!! I think I could wait 'till then..." Lily thought happily, smiling to herself. 4 minutes, she counted...3 minutes...2...she waited in anticipation....5 seconds..4..3...2...1! Just as the clock struck midnight, there was loud tapping that cut though her excited thoughts, it had from the window."I wonder what that could be?",Lily said as she made her way to her window. It was...

An owl!?!", Lily said as she opened her window, although she wasn't afraid of the owl, she was struck dumb and still. The owl flew to her bed and dropped a letter on it, then it flew out again into the midnight blue sky. Curious she walks cautiously and slowly toward the letter, as if drawn to it, she reaches out and snatches the letter off the bed. The paper was a yellowish color that wasn't cut perfectly as if for an ancient scroll, it was parchment!?! "Well I guess it wouldn't hurt to open it, because it is addressed to me, wow." Lily opened the unusual letter and what she read when she unfolded the parchment, shocked her beyond life itself! The letter read:

Dear Ms. Evans,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31st. Your sincerely, Minerva McGonagall,

Deputy Headmistress

Lily thought for a moment, then sat on her bed saying, "This is so weird, this is so cool!!!" And with that she got in her bed the letter on her night stand, she covered up and with the last thought going through her mind, "I'M A WITCH!!!!!!!" Lily fell fast asleep without a care in the world.

Chapter Two : The Leaky Cauldron and the Trip to Diagon Alley

Lily was roughly awakened by the sound of Petunia's screech, she mumbled (more like had to bellow) a, "COMING!" to get Petunia to shut up. On the way take a brief shower, lily stopped dead in her tracks, she thought about what happened last night. Lily slowly turned around to see the letter, laying perfectly normal on her night stand. She walked over to the letter snatched it off the night stand and re-read it again, then quite suddenly Lily took off, bounding down the stairs, while yelling the whole way down, " MUM!! DAD!!!". When she made it down to the landing, she saw her mother and father running toward her, " Lily what in heavens is wrong!" said her mother Elizabeth Evans. "Lily are you hurt? is something the matter? why are you yelling?" asked her father Christopher Evans, looking quite puzzled. " Mum, dad" Lily said in a calm voice, "I'm a witch." Lily's mother didn't take it as well as Lily had thought she would, she had fainted, thankfully Mr. Evans caught her before she hit the ground. Although her dad took this news to the better, as soon as he put Mrs. Evans down on the couch in the living room, ran lightly over and hugged his daughter, he was so proud of her! Just as he was congratulating her on going to Hogwarts, her mother started to stir. Lily and her father rushed over to her mother, she asked lily, "Lily, honey, did you just tell me and your father that you are a witch?" "Yes", Lily said. "oh, I thought I had dreamed that..." Mrs. Evans said. "That's great Lily!" her mother exclaimed. " We are so proud of you!". But around the corner there was one person who wasn't proud of Lily, she was disgusted, and infuriated. She knew what Lily was to her, a freak.

That morning Lily sent a letter replying that she was able to go to Hogwarts. The rest of the day went in a blur. Next thing she new it, she was at the Leaky Cauldron asking a toothy smiling man named Tom, the innkeeper of the Leaky Cauldron. He took Lily, Mr. And Mrs. Evans and Petunia to a brick wall behind the inn and took out his wand and started tapping bricks.

Amazingly when he was finished, the brick wall transformed into an entrance to Diagon Alley. Gasping out of surprise the Evans all walked down the street fascinated by everything they saw, making there way down the ally toward Gringotts Wizard Bank where they made an account for Lily. After that Lily and her parents separating, and telling Lily to meet them in Flourish and Bolts in two hours, excited by the two hours of freedom she was given, Lily started toward a store called Zonko's Joke shop. When she got in the shop, she saw her 3 best friends! "Menolly, Ashes, Meg!!!" she called over the noise. "Lily!" the 3 friends chorused. "This is so great! I didn't know you guys were witches!" Lily exclaimed when she was in front of her friends. "Neither of us knew each other were witches either!" Menolly practically shouted with glee. "We're all going to Hogwarts together!" Ashes cheered. "This is the best!" Meg said in a sing song voice. Just as Meg finished her sentence, there were loud screams coming from outside and three 11 year old boys snuck in the joke shop and away from the crowd. " That was so fun lets do it again!" a tall brown-black haired boy whispered to a shorter boy with jet black hair. Just then, a man with the same hair color as the black-haired boys was popped into the shop and asked the store keeper if he had seen four boys, at the sight of this man the three boys ran to the other side of the shop and straight into the girls. "Ouch" Menolly said as a boy with sandy-colored hair collided with her, "Www" Ashes groaned as the dark brown-haired boy smashed into her.

Lily muted a yelp, when the boy with jet-black hair collided with her. Meg stood there in surprise as the three boys collided with her friends, (they don't meet peter until the train) then starts to laugh a little while Menolly, Ashes, and Lily are trying to get un-tangled from the boys. When they were all upright and standing again, they started introducing themselves to one another. Then they all burst out laughing histericly at what just happened and walked out of the shop laughing and talking. The one with sandy colored hair was named Remus, the one with Dark brown-black hair was named Sirius, and finally the jet-black haired guy was James. They all walked down Diagon Alley talking about the wizarding world and entering the odd shop or two. Then the question came "what's qudditch?" from Lily, and all of the boys stopped in their tracks. "Here we go again" Remus groaned as James and Sirius plunged into explanation about the famous wizarding sport.

Lily and Ashes listened, while Menolly, Remus, and Meg sneaked off while James and Sirius were in "Qudditch Mode" as Remus described it." Do they do that all the time?" Menolly asked Remus, "as long as they can breath" answered Remus with a shrug. "Jeez" said Meg, "really?" "really." said Remus. The three were later joined in half an hour by their four friends, Lily and Ashes looked kind of glaze eyed, while James and Sirius looked out of breath from explaining. "woah. I just hope that doesn't happen to me" Menolly said while looking from Lily to Ashes. "Looks like they'll be spacing out for a while" said Meg also looking at Lily and Ashes. "Amazing it looks like they tried to listen but it became too much so they tried to block everything out. they kind of look like they been petrified." said Remus.

"What?" chorused James and Sirius, "you petrified them." said Menolly. "Really" said James and Sirius in unison."Yup." said Meg, "Well we should at least *try* to snap them out of it" said Sirius in an innocent voice while glancing sideways at James and giving him an evil grin. "Yeah, we should shouldn't we?" spoke James returning an identical evil grin . " Oh no. . ." is all Remus could say before James took hold of Lily and Sirius took hold of Ashes and pulled them both into a long kiss. When the two boys let go of the two girls, they were snapped out of their daze but were struck dumb. the rest of the group stood in shocked silence, When they all recovered James and Lily walked together and Sirius with Ashes with the rest walking behind them to Flourish and Bolts when none other than Snape and Malfoy started striding toward them. "oh great." sighed Remus as Malfoy and Snape were in front of the group.

"Well, well, well..." said Lucious Malfoy, (life long enemy to the Maurders) "What have we here" said Snape (the greasy git!) surveying the group. "It seems we have four little mudbloods among Potter, Black, and Lupin." Malfoy sneered. "Although, these two are not so bad" said Snape nodding toward Lily and Menolly, (yuck!) at this James, Sirius, and Remus jumped into action and started pummeling Malfoy and Snape.. "Oh sh*t. Well... isn't this just slap you up the head, spit down your throat fantastic." Menolly said sarcastically, while the three boys were beating the cr*p out of Malfoy and Snape (which isn't such a bad thing...)"great" said Meghan (Meg is her nickname) "What a day we're having." said Ashes then the girls managed to drag the boys out from view of the crowd gathering "That was close" Lily said peering over her shoulder to see that no one followed them. "To bad I didn't get to them first" said Menolly, everyone looked at her. "What? I know what that insult means, and I was going to beat the sh*t out of them too." Menolly said shrugging. "What does it mean? because I've never heard of someone say that before." questioned Lily. "Well" James began, "It's a really foul way of referring to muggle-born, it means dirty blood." He finished "Okay, that’s not exactly what I call nice..." Ashes said sarcastically, "Yeah, real friendly." said Meghan agreeing with Ashes (in a sarcastic way). "If that greasy git Snape even tries to say that again, I'll ..I'll hex him and curse him and kick his arse! Sirius snapped. "It's okay buddy, we all will" said James. "Yeah, and he deserves it!" agreed Remus.

"Well, now that we're already here, why don't we get our books?" said Remus, the rest of the group agreed and walked to the counter where they found two women talking." Ah, there you are James." said James's mother Maran Vena Potter. "Oh Lily, we were just about to come look for you, it's time to go honey." said Mrs. Evans. "Mom, you remember Menolly, Ashes, and Meghan right? they're witches too" said Lily "And this is James, Sirius, and Remus. They are also going to Hogwarts." "Well, isn't this nice all of you are in first year right?" asked Mrs. Potter, the group nodded. "Well I'm sorry to make this short but we should be getting home and find your father on the way to car. He disappeared with Petunia a while ago, probably dragging her to look at all the shops..."said Mrs. Evans. Lily had to stifle a chuckle at seeing Petunia’s face at being dragged all around Diagon Alley.

"Well, that’s alright. I'm leaving these three to stay at the Leaky Cauldron for the rest of the summer holidays, although I'm afraid, by the time I come to take them to King's Cross, there won't be any Leaky Cauldron anymore." said Mrs. Potter eyeing the three boys, who had all put on their best innocent faces. "Me, Ashes, and Meghan are staying for the rest of the holidays too." said Menolly "Well then girls, do try to keep them from burning down the whole Ally and Inn." said Mrs. Potter, giving the three boys a look that says "Do anything wrong and your grounded" the boys nodded nervously. "Bye!" Lily shouted as her mother drew her away to look for Mr. Evans. when they finally found him and Petunia in the Apothecary, Mr. Evans was totally fascinated at all the ingredients, as where Petunia looked absolutely sickened. Lily couldn't help but laugh as they went to the car. But when her father turned the key, the car wouldn't start, he tried five times then gave up, since it was getting late, Mr. and Mrs. Evans decided that they would all spend the night at the Leaky Cauldron, and Petunia yet again got that sickened look on her face again.

Lily was excited that they would be spending the night, she would see her friends again, and James... Lily let her thoughts wonder as the stepped through the door. Menolly was talking to Ashes and Remus when the door opened and Lily and her family came in, "Lil? (nickname) I thought you were going home..." asked a puzzled Menolly. "Our car wouldn't start" Lily explained , "Ah, well that makes sense" said Ashes. "Where's Meg?" questioned Lily, "She's upstairs taking a shower before we have dinner" said Menolly, as Sirius and James came up by Remus and them, they both rolled their eyes hearing this. "girls, why take a shower before dinner? why not after dinner, or wait until the next morning?" Sirius said, "Unless you've been practicing qudditch." James put in, "Well, yeah that’s true" agreed Sirius.

The three girls just stared at them, then started laughing, Sirius asked, "what’s so funny?" "That you guys are obsessed with quidditch! everything you say revolves around quidditch!" Meg said. At this Remus started to laugh and say," That is true you guys, you do talk about or anything associated with Quidditch" James and Sirius were now putting on fake pouts, when Mrs. Evans called Lily over to her to say," dinner will be at 7:00 and your room is upstairs next to Petunia's." Lily nodded and went over to James, it seem like a good idea to intrude on Sirius and Ashes, nor Remus and Menolly's conversations. Petunia came over to Lily to bother her because she didn't have anything better to do, (does she ever) she sits down and says to Lily," It's your fault we're stuck here freak, I actually have a life unlike you, and I don't have all the time in the world to waste. "at hearing this James started to lose his temper, but was keeping silent as long as he could to see Lily's reaction to this, Lily replied, "Petunia, have a life... not possible. And last time I checked, you've never used a sentence that big before, you must overwhelmed"!"And frightened, because you've never had that much brain capacity. So just move along upstairs before we hex ya." Menolly put in brandishing her wand. After Petunia went pouting up the stairs, and giving Lily and Menolly her so called ,'Death Glare', Lily and Menolly burst out laughing. "That'll teach her for a while!" said Menolly, Lily replied "Yeah, but if my mum knows that you did that.." "I will forever be banned from your house." "yah, yah, yah,.. I know the drill Lily but I also know your sister." Menolly put in while grinning evilly.

"And then of course there's always a bit of blackmail..." continued Menolly, at this Lily and Ashes started to laugh so hard that there were tears in their eyes by the time they could speak, when they could they said "evil! EVIL Menolly!" in unison. "Me, evil, lil' ole' me. I'm just an innocent lil' girl who doesn't do anything wrong." said Menolly in sweet little voice. "She's good" said Sirius impressed, "of course I'm evil, but in the good way" Menolly said in her normal voice.

"Very evil."said Lily, "very" added Meg who had just come down. "Hi Meg!" chorused the group, "Hi" replied Meg "So, what’s going on, and Lily, I thought you had gone home, or I'm losing my mind...", "your losing your mind" said Menolly, Remus, Sirius, and Ashes in unison. Meg then slapped the four upside the head, and heard a lot of "Ow!"'s afterward, "Owwwwwwwww, why did you do that?!?!?!?" groaned Sirius, "Because I'm not losing my mind! right Lily? asked Meg. "No your not losing your mind, our car isn't working, and we decided to stay here for the night." explained Lily. "And Petunia wasn't to happy about that too much." said Ashes laughing, "The look on her face, priceless..." said Menolly , "and not a look anyone should witness, lest they want to be blinded" Lily put in. At this, everyone laughed.

"Why does your sister seem to hate magic?" questioned James when everyone calmed down, "Well, I think she's jealous of you Lil's" said Menolly, Ashes and Meg nodded agreement.

"I don't know..." said Lily uncertainly, Menolly started, "Lily, no offense to your family, except your 'sister', but she is a spoiled brat and you know it, don't deny it. Because you know she hates you, but Lily if I were you, I would have told her to back off a while ago, and I know and you do too, that I have told her to back off, or I will make her regret ever insulting you, I have known you since 1st grade, and we've been best friends since then, and we still are, and always will be. And it was you who said I give the best advice," Lily smiled at this "so take it now if you wish."

"Thank you, O' Wise Menolly, I shall take heed in your advice." said Lily while standing up and bowing to Menolly. The whole group burst out laughing.

"Dinner!" the inn keeper shouted over the groups laughter, which of course, made them stop laughing.

"Yes!" everyone said and jumped up out of their chairs, ran to the table where the food was, and started shoveling down food. After five minuets and five extra helpings of food they were off racing up the stairs, "-Got-to-breathe-!-" gasped out Lily, the rest nodded in agreement, after all, they had been running through the corridors for a long time. "I’m tired....." said Meghan, and yet again the group nodded in agreement. After five minuets of rest, Sirius asks, "So what do we do now?"

"I dunno" James said shrugging his shoulders

"Ah. . . ., play pranks on Petunia..."Menolly suggested with a devious grin, the boys all said at once, "Yeah! Pranks!" while the rest of the girls thought for a moment, then agreed.

"Okay, lets see, which prank first..." Sirius said slowly.
