This is a Interview with former Bulgarian band Ork.

Hail Count Vassilium 

SFM - A the beginning tell us a few words about history of Ork. You have had a lot of changes in Your Line-up. Introduce us Your present Line-up? 

C.V-Here is our bio, but I take it from the web site:ORK, one of the best and most evil black metal bands from Bulgaria up-to-date, was formed in 1995 by Count Vassilium as a one-man band. 

After a couple of rehearsals he started the recordings of the debut demo called "Through the Fight, I Ride". Later during the same year the Count entered the studio [again all by himself] for the recordings of the second demo - "Slava Nam". 

In 1998 Count Vassilium was joined by Frosthammer [guitars]. In this line-up ORK recorded their third demo - "Et a Novo Maqico". 

In 1999 both musicians recorded two songs under the name "Rebellion of the Unholy Tyrants". This recording was released by Oskorei Productions as a 7" Split EP with the Norwegian black metal band Frostmoon. Shortly after that ORK became a five-piece - the Count [who already is in charge only for the vocals] and Frosthammer were joined by Hellthorn [guitars], Grimlord [bass] and Agarnael [drums]. The band played numerous live shows in Bulgaria, including concerts with world famous bands like Darkseed, Rotting Christ, etc. In the end of the year the musicians recorded the promo tape "Gronderblud". The two songs on it are still unreleased. 

In the beginning of 2000 the drummer Agarnael was replaced by Gravedigger. In May ORK recorded their debut album called "Blessed by Evil" and shortly after that signed a deal with the German label Folter Records. The album is out right now.

SFM - Tell us the most recent about Ork? 

C.V-The most recent thing about Ork are the nice responses which we receive these days and that's great! 

SFM - Is Ork is a "Black Metal" band? 

C.V-Yes,we are total black metal band and that's will be. Personaly I think that the best metal style is the black metal, because it is very close to my lyrics and it is full of aggression! 



SFM - How do You define the term "Black Metal"? 

C.V-Black metal in my eyes is feeling similar to the hate of the present world. Black metal is kind of protest, it is way to tell to the whole worls your personal dark word and visions! 

SFM - What do You think of the "Black Metal" scene nowadays? 

C.V-It is ok I think. There are cool bands such as:Immortal,Drak Throne and of course there are a lot of new sounding black metal bands, but it is fine for me, because many people love this style of playing I mean bands as: C.O.F and Dimmu Borgir, The Kovenant. 

SFM - Why have You chosen the band name "Ork". 

C.V-I taked the name from the books of J.R.R.Tolkien. The name sounds cool and it is very grim and evil! 

SFM - What is Your favourite Ork album/song? 

C.V-Our "Blessed by evil" album is my favorite one, and the song "Riding through the Carpathian snowpaths" is my favorite song! 

SFM - How do You compare Ork several years ago to the present one? 

C.V-Now everything is better. We have already one album, the next is on the way, we have a nice deal with cool label, we have more offers for gigs and of course more fans! 

SFM - What bands have been an influence for You? 

C.V-My top bands are: Tormentor, Mayhem(old), Dark Throne, Master's Hammar, Immortal. 

SFM - Have You played any other bands before Ork? 

C.V-Yes,I have played in many other bands before Ork,but the most cool one was Iudicium.For sorry this band spited up and now is just a history. 

SFM - Your best bands... 

C.V-As I told you I love all these bands which play the old style of black metal!



SFM - How important is the image of Ork? Will You use face-paint? 

C.V-The image is very important for us. We use corpse and face-paint because it's look cool! Honestly I don't like all these death metal bands with stupid image. The use blue jeans and old T-shirt(white), hehe they are very funny, because they singed for gore, death and flesh... 

SFM - Will You tell us some Your touring plans for this year? 

C.V-We will play in Germandorf (Germany) on Folter's "Under the black sun" festival in 06.07,07.07,later in the same month we will play in Open Hell Fest in Czech Republic and maybe in the the autumn we will play in Romania and in the winter we will go again in Germany for the promotion of our next album! 

SFM - Tell us who is an author of Your lyrics and what does they refer to? 

C.V-I am the writer of the lyrics in Ork. I give my inspirations from the music, the Nature, feeleings, life and of course from books and movies, also you can find a topics as war and vampirism there! 

SFM -. And how did you discover metal and the underground personally? What your parents and familly tell about your "hobbies"... Is it hobby or pure way of your life? How does it looking, please share with me....

C.V-Heh, the metal music is way of live, it is not a hobby! My family is very democratic and nobody ask the other about the job he do, we are just a family and not business partners! 

SFM - Are You inspirated by Satanism, Mythology, Occultism, Legends....

C.V-Yes, the old legends are very important thing for me. I love all these ancient sagas and myths. Also I find the occultism for very interesting topic. 

SFM - What kind of movies, books do You like too watch, read. Is there any genre that`s Your favourite?

C.V-My favorite movie is Dracula. Every time when I watch this movie I take a lot of inspirations. Also I like and others movies as: Star Wars, Bloodstone 2 and etc. My favorite books are the books of Tolkien, there is full of fantasy and magic passages! 

SFM - Best memories? 

C.V-My first gig! It was damn cool! 

SFM - Worst experiences? 

C.V-The bad luck with the music, I hate this etaps... 

SFM -. What do You want get to know after death? 

C.V-Who knows,I want to know if I will have the possibility to fuck horned bitch beyond and if I will can drink alcohol. 

SFM - Live & Death? 

C.V-Live-the beginning, Death-the beginning of end! 

SFM - Love&Hate? 

C.V-Love-strange feeling typical for the people, Hate-powerful feeling very important for me! 

SFM - What do You think about Black Metal scene (in Poland, Europe)? 

C.V-Graveland and Behemoth are my top bands from Poland. Otherwise I find the European scene for the most extreme and powerful, this scene rule!

SFM - What do You think about Europe, World? 

C.V-Europe is the best place to live in, it is expensive way of life but you know the old continent always is better place than the others and I am very proud that I live here! But for sorry the world is big shit full of idiots and false religions! 

SFM - Tell us a few sentences about future of Ork? 

C.V-We will enter the Soundart studio in Berlin (Germany) in this summer for the recordings of our next album called "The ring of the serpent's throne". Also we are looking to play on live much more than the past years!
