SFM - At the beginning tell us a few words about the history of Belenos. Have You had a lot of changes in Your Line-up. Introduce us Your present Line-up?

BELENOS started at the end of 1995, I was alone during 3 years, then came Denis(drums) who is still in the band since 1998, after some changes David (bass) joined the band in early 2000. I think that BELENOS has now a good line up.

SFM - Tell us the most recent about Belenos?

We are currently playing in our area (northern hills of France) and we are promoting our new album Errances Oniriques, out on Sacral productions (france) since the beginning of the year.

SFM - Is Belenos is a "Black Metal" band, tell me about it?

According to purists, we are not a black metal band and I agree with them. In fact our music sounds a mix of old school norwegian black metal and Celtic/french influences. And we are not so much in black metal, I mean we don't wear upside down crosses, we don't use face painting....

SFM - How do You define the term "Black Metal"?

The darkest music on earth musically and spiritually speaking, with a certain way of life full of misanthropy and loneliness, close to nature, appreciating winter and night. Black metal is not only a style of music, it's an vision of this world.

SFM - What do You think of the "Black Metal" scene nowadays?

Very few sincere and interesting bands, a lot of commercial shit, a lot of trendies. But I think that Black metal will never die, it is a tradition.

SFM - Why have You chosen the band name "Belenos".

We aim at performing a pure French music, so we have to use a French name. BELENOS is the name of an old french god of sun.

SFM - What is Your favourite Belenos album/song?

SFM - What bands have been an influence for You?

Early Darthrone, Burzum, Satyricon, Storm, Enslaved, Gorgoroth..

SFM - Have You played any other bands before Belenos?

I'm involved in ASYNDESS (cyber dark metal) in the same time. I have played in many bands before: Bereavement, Despair's tiny things, Black prophet...

SFM - How important is the image of Belenos? Will You continue to use your face-paint?

Ah ah ah, we don't use face painting ! we wear our own closes with our own poses and it's far from the usual black metal clichés.

SFM - How do You compare Belenos several years ago to the present one?

The music is now more varied and a bit more technical

SFM - Will You tell us some Your touring plans for this year?

Will play in september 15 dates with Your Shapeless Beauty (fra) through France and also Belgium and Swizerland.

SFM - Tell us who is an author of Your lyrics and what does they refer to?

Since 1998 I'm the author of the lyrics, they mainly deal with the dark side of human condition, the dark side of nature

SFM - Are You inspirited by Satanism, Mythology, Occultism, Legends....

I'm interested in French legends and history, mythology and nothing else...

SFM - And how did you discover metal and the underground personally? What your parents and familly tell about your "hobbies"... Is it hobby or pure way of your life? How does it looking, please share with me....

I've discovered metal 11 years ago with bands such as Slayer or Sepultura.
I'm involved in the underground metal scene for 6 years. I do not consider metal as a simple hobby, it's almost a way of life and above all a way of thinking.

SFM - What kind of movies, books do You like to watch, read. Is there any genre that`s Your favourite?

I like fantastic litterature (the lord of the rings....) and films such as: Braveheart, the 13th warrior, the wolfs pact....

SFM - What do You want get to know after death?

Only what should happen to us.

SFM - Best memories?

Have refused to play in a shitty black metal festival in Belgium...

Morbid Angel, Arcana, Satyricon, Burzum, Isengard, My dying bride, and many more...

SFM - What do You think about Black Metal scene (in Poland, French, Europe)?

The french black metal scene is not amazing, there are a lot of bands (I think 70 bands at least) but the best ones are only Himinbjorg, Hegemon, Seth, Your shapeless beauty, Antaeus....I think that in Poland there are a large variety of good bands. Black metal in Europe is still promising!

SFM - What do You think about Poland, Europe, French, World?

Poland? I have some polish blood in my veins and our drummer too, so we support are second country! France is great except most of the people who are idiots like most of the Americans, they are corrupted by 
money... Europe is wasted by the world.

SFM - Tell me about life in France. Does your area of France have a rich history you could tell about? What do you think about France scene past and present? Do you often see metal heads walking the streets in your town/city?

Life in France is not amazing ! there is a lot of shit everywhere especially on TV.
If you don't earn a lot of money, you can do nothing. The french society smells shit!
The history of France is very rich. My area is the northern part of France, we have a gallic / roman past. My area is not really interested, but I often go to Brittan (west part of France) in order to get some inspiration by the forgotten pagan spirits! 
Some years ago France had a good death / thrash scene with Massacra, Loudblast, Sup, Agressor...
now there are very few death or doom bands, its rather black metal. There are at least 50 black metal bands in France. some of them are quite good (Hegemon, Himinbjorg, Seth, Blut aus Nord, Antaeus...) but there is a lot of trendy and commercial shit !!!

I prefer to live because death may be worse!

I love interesting people and I hate the other ones !!!!

SFM - Tell us a few sentences about future of Belenos?

We are working on new materials... the next album is soon achieved and will be out at the end of this year...
