Back out behind the tapestry, to sign up!
Good day, Ravenclaws!
I trust that you've all signed up? Well, if not, then head back outside the tapestry, as you aren't actually a Ravenclaw yet!
Welcome to the Ravenclaw common room. I am your Head of House, Professor Kendra Polygon. I also teach Arithmancy, so some of you may have me as a professor. Seeing as you're all Ravenclaws, I suspect that quite a few of you will be adept enough to sign up for Arithmancy.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings. I am here to help: if you have any questions, or comments you would like to make, then please don't hesitate to tell me. You may do so by either sending an owl from the Hogwarts owlery (my owl is the black one - my name will be beneath it, not on top!), or you may simply borrow any other owl from the ministry, or wherever you happen to be. I assure you, that so long as you address the owl to me, I will get the letter. If you recive no response, then please try again, as it is likely to be a bug. Our owls tend to get a little flu-ish as the winter approaches.
Onto the real reason you're here. Once you have signed up as a Ravenclaw, then you will recieve a response, telling you the basic school rules, giving you details of equipment you will need, instructions on how to move along in your work - am I correct? If you have not eceived a response, then one is making it's way to you now. If your reply does not arrive in the next day or two, then sign up again.
Along with these details, you should also receive a dormitory number. This is the dormitory you are in. They will be according to year, then split in half. This is a great way to make friends, and best of all, it is controlled by you.
Each dormitory will nominate a captain. In your dormitory will be a nominations option, and you must nominate someone to become captain. Please refrain from nominating yourself, and do not nominate at random, as you may end up with someone who is not the best choice. Also, you must nominate from the list of names, as they are the people who have chosen to go for the title. To sign up for nomination, go to your dormitory. More details will be there.
Please remember that your dormitory changes when your year does, so if you have a captain in your dormitory, they will lave as soon as they move onto the next year, as will you. Then the captain will be redecided.
Now, onto the next thing! In your common room, you will be able to do your homework (just click on the subject, then your year, and that week's homework (if any was set) should pop up. You may post up your fanfiction, fan art and rumours, and you may visit the message boards. You may take part in polls, competitions and challenges set by your peers (I'm expecting intelligence, Ravenclaws!). You may also enter our inter-house competitions (we HAVE to beat the Slytherins, our honour depends upon it!)and, if we manage to find a quidditch instructor, our inter-house matches. That's a hint there, to anyone who may be able to find Hogwarts an instructor!
If we do manage to build a quidditch pitch, then the team selection wil begin. We will accept the most devoted pupils and give them their chosen position. But I will not go into any more detail until we know that it is necessary.
Every new year, changes will come about your curriculum, and those changes need to be addressed. It is necessary for every year to check their year group page before they attend any lessons. They may need to make some choices, or send an owl to your teachers before your work will be accepted for marking. It is VERY important that you do this, Ravenclaws, so make sure that you do not forget. These pages can be found under the 'Year Pages' link. Thank you.
