Okay people, welcome to your first introduction. This is coming from Zen, one of your major officers, that's him up above. Here’s your basic tutorial, it’s going to teach you about different typing characters used for each different type of talking. There are three basic types of typing: OOC, IC, and Action.
The first we come across is OOC, or “Out Of Character.” When you do this, you are talking to another person as yourself and not as your character. Keep in mind; this is only used during game play. In order for people to know when you are using OOC, you should put parentheses on each side of what you type. The final product would appear something like this:
(ok, the easy part is coming up …)
The next type is IC, or “In Character.” During game play, this requires no treatment of any sort. You simply type what your character would be saying, as follows:
Are you paying attention? Good, because it’s gonna get tougher now …
**Note, special exception to the above rule: Should your character be speaking in their heads, in thoughts, or telepathically, you must quote it!
The last major type of typing is Actions. This is not only for actions, but for all descriptions of your characters feelings and the near surroundings, as well. This is separated from other texts by a special character just like OOC, but you get a choice in this one. You may use wither * or ~ or : It should come to look as follows:
~the young man slowly stepped forward~
*the young man slowly stepped forward*
:the young man slowly stepped forward:
Okay, one last step in this process is learning how to put it all together. It might seem a bit difficult, but take a look at the following example and try to identify which part is OOC, IC, and Action.
~smirk and laugh~ Well, you’ve finally reached the end, hope you understand it. ((Now you should report to whoever gave you this link and they will review everything to make sure you understand))
