Sitcom Slut!

I knit a sitcom sweater. My friend Molly wanted some hookerware. Their powers combine to form this fun, sexy, sexy, revealing shirt. The more conservative types could wear it as a vest or over a tank top as well. Knit as a medium. Well, first it was knit as a large. I had stitch count problems. Don't ask.

If I have one regret about this shirt, it's that I don't have a fourth button to add on, to keep a closure over the bra. (On my model, the top actually buttons ABOVE her bra)

My original concept for this sweater was to take the sleeves off of Sitcom Chic and make it into a vest. Then I remembered it was a raglan sweater, so that idea was pretty much nixed. But the button loops and the shaping are inspired from Bonne Marie.

Body:

Cast on 148 (158, 168, 178, 188) stitches. Work 6 rows seed stitch. Slip the first stitch and purl the last stitch of each row. (This is called a selvage stitch)

Continue working the first and last 4 stitches of each row in seed stitch and selvage stith (only 3 stitches will actually be in seed stitch). Work the rest of the body in stockinette until you reach the yoke.

RS Row: K 37 (39, 42, 44, 47), place marker, k 74 (80, 84, 90, 94), place marker, finish row.

R9: k1 CC, k8 MC, k1 CC

Work seed stitch border as usual and work the ZigZag decoration 16 (17, 18, 19, 20) times through the work. In working row 5, you will need a separate yarn for the second seed stitch border and to continue along the work. I would recommend joining a new skein and simply working with that new skein and cutting off the old one. (At least, that's what I did) Cut second yarn.

Continue working stockinette in MC for 4 rows.

Armhole Prep: ** Work pattern as usual until 8 (9, 10, 11, 12) stitches before first marker. Work the next 16 (18, 20, 22, 24) stitches in seed stitch. Repeat from ** once more. Finish the row as usual.

Work the next three rows as the previous row.

(RS Row) ** Work until 5 (6, 7, 8, 9) stitches from first marker. Bind off 10 (12, 14, 16, 18) and work the next 3 stitches in seed. Repeat from ** once more and finish the row as usual.

Right Front:
Wrong Side: Work the first 6 (8, 8, 10, 10) stitches normally and place them on holder. Purl the rest of the round.

(For a more V-neck, slip the first 6 stitches. For a more square neck, head towards 10 stitches)

** RS Row: Slip the first stitch, work the next two stitches in seed stitch, slip slip knit, knit until 3 stitches from the end of the row, knit two together, knit 1.

WS Row: Purl across to last 3 stitches. Work 2 stitches in seed stitch and selvage stitch.

Repeat from ** 8 (9, 10, 11, 12) more times. Drop the armhole decreases, but continue the neckline decrease until 10 (12, 12, 14, 14) stitches remain. until neckline measures 7" (8", 9", 10", 11") from zigzag decoration or desired length to shoulder. Bind off 5 (6, 6, 7, 7) stitches and knit across. Purl the next row. Bind off the remaining 6 stitches. Cut yarn.

Left Front:
RS Row: Work the first 6 (8, 8, 10, 10) stitches normally, then place on holder. **Knit 1, knit two together. Work until 5 stitches from the end of the row- slip, slip knit, purl 1, knit 1, selvage stitch.

WS Row: selvage stitch, purl 1, knit 1, purl across.

Repeat from ** 8 (9, 10, 11, 12) more times. Stop doing armhole decreases, but continue neckline decreases until 10 (12, 12, 14, 14) stitches remain. Work until neckline measures 8" (10", 12", 14") from zigzag decoration or desired length to shoulder. End with a right side row.

WS Row: Bind off 5 (6, 6, 7, 7) stitches, purl across.
Knit across remaining stitches. Bind off the last 5 (6, 6, 7, 7) stitches purlwise.

** RS Row: Work first piece until the last 3 stitches. Knit two together, knit one. Second piece, knit one, slip slip knit, work as usual.

WS Row: Selvage stitch, seed stitch border, purl across. Second piece purl across, seed stitch border, selvage stitch.

Repeat from ** until 10 (12, 12, 14, 14) stitches remain on each side. Work straight until piece measures 8", (10", 12", 14") from zig zag decoration or desired length to shoulder. MAKE SURE FRONT AND BACK LENGTHS ARE EQUAL!

Still working selvage stitch, work three rows seed stitch. Bind off all stitches.
