Into the Abyss: M.I.A.
Chapter 5
Here you go, I finally updated. It kind of sucks though, sorry about that. I was kind of
rushed when I wrote it.

Melian fumed, “Kali! Why can’t I help?”
Kali spun around, “Because that spell I cast made us, for a moment, one being. I saw into
your memories and I saw into you.”
Melian paled, she knew where this was going.
“I know your pregnant.”

Everyone gaped, “Pregnant!” Lania whispered.
Kali nodded curtly, “By about 2 and a half months.” Kali turned back around and exited
the Infirmary. Jared and Dyro on her heals.
Lania stared at Melian still trying to process what had been said. Melian was starting to
fidget under Lania’s stare when she snapped out of it. “Up!” Lania commanded as she
pointed to an examination table.
Melian looked at her curiously.
Lania smiled softly in response, “I want to check the two of you out. Have to make sure
your both healthy.”
Melian gave a weak smiled in return and hopped up onto the table.
Meanwhile, the rest of the crew arrived on MIA’s main deck.
Jared went straight to his chair and began bringing up MIA’s shield’s and weapon lists.
Kali went to her ‘captain’s chair’ and, with her eyes closed, looked up possible traps the
Hunters might try using there three ships. And of course, counter measures for those
traps.
Dyro went to his own console to scan the upcoming ships for weapon and shield
capabilities.
(AN: I’m not all that experienced with writing fight scenes so please bear with me.)
Kali’s eyes opened after ‘downloading’ the information.
“Weapons charged and loaded.” Jared spoke in a monotone, he was in his element.
Dyro spoke from his console, “Shields up 100%. Hunter ships closing in fast. 30 seconds
until long range weapons lock.”
Kali nodded, “Show me, MIA.” Three ships came up on screen, the slight simmer that
in-cased them signified that they too had brought up their shields.
“What are NOVA missiles?” Jared asked Kali.
“NOVA missiles?”
“Yeah, I have a list of MIA’s missile types. That’s one of the several I don’t know.”
Kali shrugged, “Let’s find out. MIA, launch a NOVA missile at the lead Hunter ship.”
A small boom signaled that the missile had been fired. Without much warning the Lead
ship exploded. The debris from it impaled the second ship’s shield and it too exploded.
The third ship however, managed to swerve out of the way in time.
Dyro’s jaw dropped several inches, “Holy shit!”
Jared raised an eyebrow but choose not to comment.
Kali looked mildly surprised, “At least now we know what those do.”
MIA’s voice interrupted them, “The third ship is departing at full speed Kali. Shall we
pursue?”
“No, let it go.”
Jared looked doubtful, “They will just return with more ships next time, Kali.”
Kali shrugged, “Maybe, but I bet they will think long and hard about it first. Considering
how easily this fight was lost.”
Jared didn’t press the issue.

AN: That wasn’t really much of a ‘fight’ scene, since the Hunter’s didn’t even get to
attack. *Shrugs* Sorry this is so short, I just got tired of writing.
