Into the Abyss: M.I.A.

Chapter 11

AN: OK, so it’s been awhile. I kept getting interrupted and was unable to update. This update is going to be very short but there is a note at the end that HAS to be read...

Everyone just stared blankly for a moment. “Show us, MIA.” Kali said softly, almost fearfully. Appearing on screen where the planet Darntante once was was desolation. Debris and rock floated in space. Once a peaceful, gentle planet filled with pleasant beings was now nothing.

The only survivor, Ayana looked wide-eyed at what had once been her home. “Mama?...” she whispered, before turning her head into Lania’s shoulder. Lania held her closer, “Oh you poor child.” she murmured.

“Kali, the ship behind the moon is hailing us. And my sensors indicate that they are starting up their Jump engines.” M.I.A. intoned.

“Go ahead MIA.” Kali responded.

Cantry’s face appeared. “Well, I had hoped that your ship would have been caught in the blast. I would have preferred that no witnesses survived, but I suppose...”

“Why did you do it?” Melian interrupted.

Cantry smiled rather wickedly, “That’s my business girl. Don’t concern yourself.”

Cantry’s smiled turned to a frown when her eyes laid upon Ayana. “Yes, Griffin did mention something about having an idea to save her.” Cantry grinned maliciously again, her eyes glinting. She truly was proud of what she’d done. “You’re pretty luckily that you were his favorite Ayana. I would have just let you die with your damnable parents and the rest of the planet.”

Kali’s eyes were glowing with her anger. Melian had never seen her like that before and was slightly concerned. “You mean that Griffin was in on this?” Kali growled.

“Oh indeed he was, Priestess.” Cantry turned her head to look casually behind her. “I’d have him come speak to you. But my dear nephew had a little accident. I couldn’t very well have a weakly like him on my side. His emotions would only get in the way.” Cantry moved slightly to the left. The crew of MIA got a short glimpse of Griffin’s prone body, his neck at a rather odd angle, before Cantry moved back. Blocking him from view.

“Well, I’m afraid this is where we part ways. I was considering just destroying you. But...I decided against it. My...partners will be wanting my report...good-bye.” Cantry cut the connection and before another word could be said, her ship Jumped.

Melian stood quickly from the chair she was sitting in. “We have to follow her! She has to pay for what she did!”

Kali, her eyes still glowing slightly, frowned. “I’m not sure that would be a wise course of action. That ship seemingly has the ability to destroy entire planets. We wouldn’t have much of a chance against something like that.”

Jared shook his head, siding with his sister. “But MIA could easily outrun or dodge anything that huge ship could throw at us. We should have no problem. As long as we can find them, of course.”

“Besides,” Lania commented. “As a Priestess it would go against your vows. H-Heroth did say that they were friends of the A.T. Priestesses.” Lania stuttered Heroth’s name. Her fear of the dead was quite obvious.

(See Information chapter)

Kali sighed, “What do you feel about it? she asked Dyro. He shrugged. “They have a point, Kali.”

Kali sighed again. “All right then. Everyone strap in. MIA, prepare to Jump. I hope you all realize something. We may find Cantry in a few days or months but...it could possibly take years. Jumping, even from the same exact spot in space, takes you to a different place every time. There’s no way to tell exactly where Cantry’s ship went.”

Melian shrugged, settling the matter. “Then lets not wait around talking about it. Let’s just DO it.”

“Jump, M.I.A!” Kali commanded after getting the okay from everyone that they were strapped in.

Ayana was still crying slightly. But she was nearly asleep as she had exhausted herself.

Dyro was muttering, “I hate this!”

Jared and Lania had there eyes closed.

Kali and Melian were watching straight ahead.

M.I.A. Jumped, leaving the remains of Darntante and lost friends behind. Chasing after there prey like a wild animal. Some with doubts, some without. But all willing to make a sacrifice for justice, and revenge.

Now...I have two ways of contining this story. One would only take about two more chapters. The other however would be any number of chapters. The second one would mean a time jump in the story of about five years or so.

So...do I end it now? Or continue on?

Please give me feedback. I’m torn between the two...
