First Crush
    by Lauren Vaughn

It's the end of the summer,
We haven't seen each other in a while.
I'm getting worried,
Don't see you smile.
School just started,
Are you avoiding me?
Do you have new feelings,
Could this be?
Of course it could be,
Now I'm a fool too.
This is kind of awkward,
Is it me or you?
Of course it's you,
It couldn't possibly be me.
You like someone else,
Couldnt I see?
You dont know what to do,
And neither do I.
The last thing I want to do,
Is say good bye.
You've put me in a black whole,
As deep as I can go.
We`re going to hang out tomorrow.
As far as I know,
I shouldnt go on that.
Because the tables can turn,
Don't you know?
How quickly you learn,
No one marries their first crush.
I should have known,
Concepts are hard to grip.
As time has shown,
I know you didnt want to hurt me.
That much is true,
You cant help the way you feel.
I think that's my quest,
To step out of your life.
Go with whatever you want,
Because there are many boys.
And I got stuff to flaunt,
So you want another girl.
And me too,
We had a great friendship.
I wish you knew I'm attached to these strings,
That the puppet player plays.
I know these things called feelings,
Are here to stay.
My heart is broken,
Can we work it out?
This question though,
I highly doubt.
