Well first you need to sign up at a free server. Here are some below and what I rate them as:
Angelfire
Recommended
Most people use others for their first time, but I looked around and this seemed to be the best option. I recommend this to you if you know the basic HTML.
Geocities
This is a pretty good site to start out at. They have pagebuilders which make it pretty easy to build pages or you can use their html editors to build pages with all html.
AOL Hometown
This is really easy to use. You can drag text, and images from the main editor page to create your page. This doesn't require any HTML knowledge although there is way to add HTML using this page editor.
Make sure, when you build your page, you have tons of original ideas. People like that. It gets boring when you go to different sites that have the exact same things. Be original. Create a title that's unique and also reflects you and your personality. Dare to be different!!
What is HTML? HTML is the computer language that is used to create documents on the web. I create all my pages in complete HTML and do not use any web-building programs. HTML documents are text files that consist of HTML tags (which can place text or images wherever you want to place them). All tags start with a < (left bracket) and end with a > (right bracket). A great place to get started on HTML is: Lissa Explains It All.
I would not recommend something like soupfaerie to explain HTML, as it does not give a full explaination of what it is.
So look around, and find the server that's right for you!
