Notes from seeder:
The first show of the short Austrailian String, This is another one of my very first bootlegs, this came to me in a trade. The show has very good sound, like Sydney it was recorded very close to the stage, but unlike the Sydney tape which is very clean, this one is a bit uneven at times, sort of rumbly, especially during the first three songs, but it is very good, and the sound is pretty consistant. This isn't " Voodoo Drive" which has a opening at the beginning, " Voodoo Drive" has a snippet of " Voodoo Chile" before "Dazed And Confused", and it was made as a track all on it's own. I've listened to the riff Jimmy plays before Dazed, and I don't think it sounds anything like " Voodoo Chile",at least not any version I've heard, studio, or live. But maybe it is there on the " Voodoo Drive" version.
Another reason why this isn't " Voodoo Drive" is because there is a snippet of " The Shape I'm In" in the " Whole Lotta Medley", and there isn't in this one, it just ends on " Going Down Slow".
On the subject of the sound, I think the equipment couldn't handle the noise that close to the stage, but it really isn't a big deal, even though the first three tracks have that sort of rumble sound to them, but it won't you distract you from the show, and they really do sound great. There are some taper comments on it, but nothing that will spoil the show, it also has that annoying whirring noise that comes from the equipment, but it mostly happens at the end of the songs, so it doesn't comprimise the track.
Unfortunately this show is incomplete as well, and there are a few cut in's and drop outs. Why " Tangerine", " Moby Dick", and parts of " Whole Lotta Love" are cut, we don't know if it was because the equipment was acting up, and the taper thought he was getting everything, but the machine screwed up.
Or maybe the taper didn't think he'd have enough tape, so he omitted some songs, or perhaps it was a matter of song preference. It's unclear. How much was played in the "Whole Lotta Love" medley is also unclear because of the drop outs. None of the Austrailian tapes are complete though, it's upsetting, but the stuff that is here is fantastic.
