Identity Lies

“Bryan MacWilliams, please report to the office, Bryan MacWilliams”
Bryan was stirred form his ravenous writing by the announcement of his own name.

“Bryan, do you need a pass to go to the office.”
“No, I’m sure I’ll be fine, I’ll be back in a minute.”

Bryan left his creative writing class and walked undisturbed to the main office.

“Hi Bryan, this telegram just came for you.”
“I didn’t know they still sent out telegrams.”

Bryan walked back towards class, opened his telegram, and read aloud.

“ Bryan.-Stop- Toga at Harrybrooke-Stop- Be There- stop- Saturday at Eight-stop-“

Later, as he drove down Grove street towards Harrybrooke Park he muttered to himself:

“Who invites me to a toga party , this has got to be some sort of trap, my friends are gonna jumpout and start laughing at me when I step from my car wearing a toga.”

As Bryan rounded the turn towards Harrybrooke the sound of hot Rock music overpowered that of his own stereo. As he pulled into the driveway all he could see was young attractive half-naked teenagers dancing in the middle of the park. He pulled off to the side and now out of his car he realized the music he had heard driving up was that of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. With that knowledge he ran through the sea of people to the front of the stage and stood in awe of the Rock legends before him. Once he was over his star-shock, he looked around and noticed that he didn’t know anyone and they were all dancing.

“When in Rome!?!?”

And with that he began to dance into the crowd. After what seemed like every Chili Peppers song ever he grew tired and headed towards what seem to be a food table. He tossed some egg rolls and rice onto his place and picked up a bottle of water when a hand come down on his shoulder. He turned around and dropped his plate in wonder.

“Aren’t you….?”

“Yes, I am Jesus and this is my party.”

“But I thought the you had died.”

“Nope, I just took many different forms throughout the span of time.”

“Why’d you invite me here.”

“I have many things to teach you, my son.”

And with that Bryan and Jesus walked into a crowd of dancing youths.
