I can’t even begin to count the number of places I’ve lived. I have fond memories of some; others I’d rather forget. A handful of my residences have been houses, but apartments are my preference - after all, not very much space is needed when you’re living alone. The locations have ranged from relatively normal to downright odd... but that’s what you get after choosing life in the military.

Truth be told, I’ve never really been able to settle down anywhere. I’ve been searching for years, like my subconscious knew there was something or somewhere better out there waiting for me.

Now, as I stand here surrounded by those closest to me, I pause to gaze at each familiar face. A warm feeling of peace settles over my soul, and I lay my head on the chest of the man whose arms are wrapped securely around me. For the first time in my life, I’m home.
