Dumpster Diving 2002

Tech Coordinators from seven southeastern Illinois School Districts enjoyed a field trip to Central Management Services (CMS) in Springfield, Illinois on May 1, 2002 to Dumpster Dive.  Tom Taylor was our Tour Guide.  Glenda Bequette from the Illinois State Board of Education- ELearning joined our group for the day.

Some of the items we found include:  Computers, Asante & Cisco Switches, Small and Large-100+ port Hubs, Mice, Keyboards, Speakers, Chairs, Desks, Computer Desks, APS Backup, Closed Circuit TV Monitors, Welding Equipment, Computer monitors, monitors, monitors, Storage Cabinets, Scanner, Laser Printers, computer reference books- a little bit of everything.

Prices per pickup load ranged from $37.00 to $250.00.  Most districts were able to negotiate prices on the items they purchased.

School Districts can visit CMS anytime of the year.  It is a good idea to call ahead.  (217)- 782-7786
CMS does close monthly to prepare for public auctions.  An auction would also be a good time to visit CMS.

School Districts visiting for the first time can purchase on a provisional.  After the first visit your paperwork must be on file with CMS to purchase.  CMS only accepts School District checks.  Cash, Purchase Orders, and Credit are not accepted at CMS.
