So you're finally tired of trying to use that disaster they call Windows?
I want to switch to Mac but I don't know where to begin!!
You may have seen those horrible Switch ads on television. If you're a Windows lover you probably make fun of them and if you're a Mac lover you probably cringe (personally I beat my head against a brick wall). Either way, they most likely weren't what convinced your inner Mac chee to show itself.
Whatever it was (this site, a bad experience with your current platform, an incident involving tapioca, etc.) you're probably eager to throw that Wintel machine out a window and frolluck in the sweet, ergonomic, aqua Macness of a Macintosh. Well, this is the place to start. You can choose between Apple's computers or you can design your own at the Apple Store. The choice is completely up to you, which is a term you will grow more familiar with throughout your Mac experience. People seem to complain about Apple's prices a lot, but there's really nothing to complain about. If you want a Porche, pay for a Porche. If you want a crappy old volkswagon, pay for the volkswagon.
First of all, let me say that the Mac hardware doesn't only look cool, but also kicks some major ass, speed and stability-wise. And it's getting better! The new PPC line, using IBM processors, will not only kick ass, but head-butt it, slap it, hit it with a baseball bat, pulverize it, and reduce that poor ass to dust.
If you're not a huge fan of Mac OS then you probably haven't tasted the awesome power of OS X. Used Windows XP and thought that was impressive? Well XP only wishes it were OS X (its programmers do anyway, which is why it was designed in the first place). Before you pass judgement on Apple's groundbreaking software you should experience it for yourself. Go to an Apple Store or other Mac vender and play around with OS X's doodads and flimflams and thingamajigs.
However, if you have used OS X and you're still not impressed (I would get my head examined), Mac OS is not the only operating system that runs on Macintosh hardware. You should consider Linux Yellow Dog or another alternative operating system. There are actually many other OSs that are Mac compatable. If you want more information about Linux go to Linux.org and LinuxISO.org.
Just remember to do research or get advice from an expert before you go screwing around with any Mac.
Macintosh hardware is definitely not crap. The new PPC line with IBM-made chips completely toasts the Pentium line. Trust me. And you are right that OS X is very sweet. Don't even get me started about its insane sweetness. So please just give the hardware a chance and remember that you'll soon be using OS X.
Well, my friend, you sound like a Linux user to me (and a mime is a terrible thing to waste). Ditch Windows, hold onto your PC, and install Linux. Just keep in mind that Linux people and Mac people should be friends because we have a common enemy and both of our OSs are smokin'. If you haven't already, take a look around this site and consider giving Mac a second chance. To learn more about Linux go to Linux.org and LinuxISO.org.
Have a nice life, and may the source be with you.
Well, the best thing to do is sell it to some idiot and use the money to buy drugs, but here are some other suggestions: a trash can, a pooper-scooper, a plunger, a speed bump, make your car look high-tech by duct taping it to the hood, donate it to charity, or if you really want to have some happy memories, destroy it in some horrible way (and don't forget to film it).
There will always be gullable idiots out there who can't wait to get their hands on a PC. By selling your PC on Ebay or to a stupid friend you could make quite a bit of cash.
