School Planning Council Update:?

With input that we received from parents, the PAC and teachers, we have come up with the three main goal areas that we will be focussing on for our annual plan. The goals will be writing, math and computers. We will now have to come up with a plan as to how we will be making changes in these areas to improve student achievement. We will provide background data such as the Foundation Skills Assessment for Grades 4 and 7, satisfaction survey results, report card marks and so on to validate our choices. We will then be developing plans to work on in our goal areas. In the plans we will have to set realistic, measurable levels for improvement for each goal. The preliminary plan will be presented to the PAC at the monthly meeting next week and to the staff at a staff meeting also next week.

PAC Meeting :

The March PAC meeting will take place on Monday, March 3 at 12:30 at the school.

Report Cards:?

The second term report cards will be sent home on Monday, March 31.

Hot Dog Day:?

This Friday will be the last of the special hot dog days for Loaves and Fishes. Hot dogs will be 50 cents each with a nonperishable food item or a $1 without a donation. Many thanks for the great support that we have had in this venture! It is great to be able to give something to those that are less fortunate. A special thank you to Lori Sanders, Teresa Dunkel and Terry Perron for all of the work they have done to put this on each Friday for the last month!

Cross Country Skiing:?

The Cross Country Ski Club at the school will be having their windup this Friday at 99 Mile Ski Hill. Those students that have been regular participants and have persevered through the questionable conditions should have a great finale to the year. Thank you to Mrs. Porter for all the time and effort that you have put in with these students!

Esteem Team:?

On Wednesday, March 5 we will be having an assembly with Angus Reid as the presenter. Esteem Team members are role model speakers that touch on topics such as success, goal setting, teamwork, peer pressure, decision making, passion and so on. Angus Reid was born and raised in Richmond, B.C. He played high school football for Vancouver College and was named the ?Provincial All-star Lineman of the Year?! From there, Angus went to Simon Fraser University on a full scholarship and in his final year, he was voted the Team Captain and earned status as an NAIA All-American. In 2000, he turned pro and was drafted 4th overall in the Canadian Football College Draft by the Montreal Alouettes. In the middle of his rookie year, he was traded to the BC Lions, where he has played the past two sessions. This presentation will be offered to our Intermediate students.
