About Horse Lake

At Horse Lake Elementary we teach kindergarten to grade seven. In this school there are 235 students and these students are taught by 12 teachers. Other than teacher personel the school has a secretary, custodian, janitor, library assistant, two teacher aides and three noon hour supervisors. Our special philosophy is our mission statment which is: "Working together, we will provide a safe, caring environment which promotes excellence and encourages children in becoming socially responsible citizens and life-long learners." Principal is Marty McClusky. We have very happy students, caring staff members and supportive parents.

The major events of 2002-2003 school year are inter school sporting events which included soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross country running and track & field, our annual Christmas Concert and Jump Rope for Heart.

Horse Lake's unique characteristics include a beautiful school ground which had been selectively logged off, a clean and well kept facility and happy unique kids who enjoy coming to school. Horse Lake is very sports minded. It has a very active interschool program afterschool and a well attended intramural program at lunch. In addition it has a Jump Rope Skipping Team which travels extensively, demonstrating fitness through display of fine skipping skills.

Horse Lake has a busy and active learning assistance room and a small and friendly resource room. Programs delivered in each of these rooms are very well thought of, both locally and by the district. Horse Lake is considered a community school in that many organizations use its gym on a regular basis each night. Our Skipping Team perform at various community funtions.

Problems at Horse Lake are at a minimum.There are many activities that are provided at Horse Lake Elementary for the students throughout the year, such as Students Council special days, intramurals, sock hops and a variety of special lunches. Students at Horse Lake have opportunities to join many of our clubs such as the gardening club, skipping team, library assistance club and student council.The goal has always been to keep Horse Lake Elementary a fun place. The school believes that a happy school is a good school and a good school is a place where much learning occurs. That is why the students also find school a fun place to be.
