Services
EOP&S is short for "Extended Opportunity Programs and Services". we are a program at Mt. SAC that provides educational and financial support services to eligible students who have historically experienced economic and educational disadvantages. The program is funded through the State of California. As an eligible participant you will receive additional support through counseling, tutoring, financial assistance, and other services designed to help you complete your educational goals.
To meet eligibility criteria for EOP&S, a student must:
Be a California Resident. |

Be enrolled as a full-time student (12 units or above). |
|
Have completed FEWER than 70 degree applicable college units. |
|
Qualify to receive a Board of governors Grant (BOGG) Fee Waiver based on method A or B. |
|
Be educationally disadvantaged as defined by Title 5 regulations. |

EOP&S/CARE student responsibilities include:
Attending an EOP&S orientation.
Meeting with an EOP&S counselor two times each semester.
Attending an EOP&S workshop
Completing an Educational Plan with an educational advisor and/or counselor.
Submitting a progress report each semester.
CARE Program
Extra services for single parents receiving Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF-formerly known as AFDC) with children under age 14.

CARE is a state funded program designed to recruit and assist recipients of temporary assistance for needy families (TANF-formerly known as AFDC) who would like to attend college. the program is funded through the Sate of California. as an eligible participant you will receive additional support through counseling, tutoring, financial assistance, and other services designed to help you complete your educational goals.
To be eligible for CARE, a student must:
Have been determined EOPS eligible. |

Enrolled in at least 12 units upon acceptance. |
|
Are currently receiving AFDC/TANF assistance and have at least one child under 14 years of age. |
|
Are at least 18 years old, a single head of household and have been determined to lack marketable skills. |
|
Have applied for financial aid and have a need for child care, transportation, books and supplies, and/or counseling to attend college. |
|
Are pursuing an educational, vocational, or job training program at Mt. SAC which will lead in a certificate, degree, or transfer objective. |
CARE Services:
CARE services provide additional assistance to meet the unique needs of single parents. students determined to be CARE eligible may receive the following:

EOPS/CARE student responsibilities include:
Attending an EOPS/CARE Orientation.
Meeting with an EOPS Counselor two times each semester.
Attending an EOPS Workshop.
Completing an Educational Plan with an educational advisor and/or counselor.
Submitting a progress report each semester.
