Luther's head pounded. He lay on the ground, still hurting from Lex's powerful blow. ~Chirp chip cheee! chirp~  Luther heard somthing. "Chickadee? Hello? Cutie little chickadee?" whispered Luther to himself. They chirping things weren't cute little chickadee's, they were Compsognathus'! They came at Luther from all different angles, with there tiny feet pounding on the ground.

The little scavengers pounced on Luther. "Hello? Cutie little chickadee's?" said Luther. The compy's dug their little teeth into Luther's flesh. "ArRrRrgGgGg!" shouted Luther.

Luther sprang up. "Ahhhh! Get off me!" he screamed. He started to run toward the river. He needed to wash them off. One dug its tiny spear teeth into his neck.

Luther ran to the murky, swampy river area. He shook off the compy's, but they kept on hanging on. Inflicting more pain with every bite. "I'm sorry I killed Peter and shot Bryce!" pleaded Luther. The compy's, of course couldn't understand. It was his last resort.

Luther tripped over a compy and fell flat-faced into the muddy water. The tiny scavengers leaped onto Luther's body. Luther couldn't get up, the compy's weight was too much.

Finally Luther whipped his body up again. He began to run. He was getting extremely tired of running. The sinking mud made it even harder.

Luther collapsed. He let the compy's take over. He had no strength left to fight them off. He felt his back rip open and tiny saws inside his body.

Luther died painfully. The compy's were messy eaters. As the compy's finished their meal Luther's blood ran down the small muddy river.

"What do you suppose it is?" asked Chris. "I have no idea," said Lex. Chris and Lex were on their way back and they stumbled upon a giant cage sunk into the ground. It must have been for an animal, thought Lex as he put his gloved hands on it.

Lex and Chris hoped on the cage, hoping to see a dinosaur fenced in. To their surprise there was no dinosaur inside. It was empty. Little did they know, what was supposed to be in it, was circling them right above their heads!

It was Lex who saw it first. "Chris! Quick, get in the cage!" shouted Lex pointing at the sky. "Huh?" exclaimed Chris. "Get in, Pteranodon!" shouted Lex lifting up the heavy door of the cage.

"Oh crap!" shouted Chris, finally seeing the circling demon above. Chris ran toward the door without thinking. His foot fell through one of the spaces of the rusty, silver bars. "Help me!" cried Chris. He tried to get his foot out, it was too stuck to pry-out. "Hand on!" yelled Lex, revising a plan.

Of course there was no time for Lex to climb out of the cage, and pry Chris' foot out. He grabbed his trapped comrade's leg from underneath and yelled, "Hold on!" The Pteranodon's mighty talons dove right behind Chris' head,

The mighty Pteranodon landed next to Chris. Lex continued to hang onto the leg that separated Chris' safety from death. The scaly feet of the flying beast rubbed on Chris' face. "Piss off!" hissed Chris is disgust.

The Pteranodon thrashed its head sideways and clamped its deadly, pecking mouth on Chris' rib cage. With this violent shake Lex lost his grip on his doomed friend. "Agggghhaaa!" cried Chris. It felt as if he were in a giant vice-grip.

Lex sprang into action, he leaped on the Pteranodon's scaly, sandpaper back. He put it in a headlock he learned at the "Crocodilian's Survival Camp".  This closed the Pteranodon's nasty jaw-lock.

Chris finally wiggled free. He and Lex slowly forced the Pteranodon into the cage. It was tuff work, but Lex's headlock weakened the winged beast.

In last attempts to struggle free, the Pteranodon tried to hang onto a leaf with its crushing beak. "Okay, that's good for now. Close the cage!" instructed Lex. And so they did so. The Pteranodon could get out, but not for awhile. "Good job, and thank you for saving me," said Chris. "No problem, I'm sure you would have done the same for me," announced Lex.

The two walked away from the mess they just created. "How much further?" asked Lex. "Only about 20 minutes" said Chris happily.
