Rinse
She took a deep breath and laid her fingers on the keys. With pain staking precision she began her song. She’d do anything to sparkle in his eyes She would suffer she would fight and compromise She’s been wishing on the starts that shine so bright For answers to questions that will haunt her tonight. “Hey Taylor” “What hon?” he answered. “You know I love you right?” “Of course, I love you too.” A warm sense of satisfaction rose, bubbling brightly in her stomach. She must rinse this all away She can’t hold him this way She must rinse this all away She can’t love him this way Little things changed at first. She didn’t even pick up on them. His calls were less frequent, but he was busy right? He made up for it when he could. Yet somehow she couldn't shake the feeling. Something was wrong. How she’d be soothed how she’d be saved if he could see She needs to be held in his arms to be free But everything happens for reasons she will never understand Don’t you know that the heart of a woman can never be found in the arms of a man? “Taylor.” “Yeah?” he asked. “Will you stay with me.?” “Okay” he said simply. He didn’t say anything else, but at least she was in his arms again. She must rinse this all away She can’t hold anybody this way She must rinse this all away She can’t love him “Where were you?” she asked. “Out” he said simply. “Out where?” “Just out okay” he spat. She could smell the alcohol on his breath. “I was worried” she whispered. He didn’t hear. And if she runs away she fears she won’t be followed What could be worse that leaving something behind And as the depths of oceans slowly become shallow Its loneliness she finds If only he were mine Everything had changed then. He wasn’t the same person anymore. She was scared. She couldn’t leave now, but sometimes is seemed like there was no other choice. If only he’d come back to her. She’d do anything to sparkle in his eyes She would suffer she would fight and compromise She’s been wishing on the stars that shine so bright For answers to questions that will haunt her tonight “Taylor?” “Yeah?” he asked. “I love you” she said hesitantly. “Yeah” he said vaguely. That feeling was gone, she was gone. She must rinse him She must rinse him She can’t rinse him She can’t rinse him She can’t she wont she must rinse him She can’t she wont she must rinse him “Do you want me to go?” she asked. He only shrugged. That was answer enough. She must rinse this all away She can’t hold him this way She must rinse this all away She can’t love him this way She lifted her hands from the keys as the audience erupted in applause. Absently she wiped the tears she hadn’t known she was crying away from her eyes.
