Chapter 2

“I can’t believe you’re actually going to go out with him again” Christine’s best friend Sarah said the next night as she watched her get ready for her date.

“Sarah, this is Taylor Hanson we’re talking about. I’ve been in love with him for over five years. Of course I’m going to go out with him” Christine said.

“Even after what he tried to pull last night?” their other friend Melissa asked.

“Everyone makes mistakes. I’m going to give him a second chance like he deserves. He sounded sincerely sorry last night. You should have seen the look in his eyes” she paused. “Besides, if he does anything again I’ll just kick his scrawny ass and then he’ll learn never to mess with females again.”

Her friends were amused. “Scrawny? Aren’t you the one that’s always trying to convince us how buff he is?” asked Sarah.

“Well sure, but he’s still pretty skinny. Even I’ll admit that. I think I can take him on” Christine joked. “So how do I look?” she asked turning away from her mirror and looked at her friends. She was wearing khaki flares, and a tight black strappy tank top (products of an earlier shopping spree). Her hair was twisted back with butterfly clips and she had slightly more make-up then usual on.

“Eh…not bad I suppose” Sarah teased.

“Shut up and tell me the truth. Did I put too much make-up on? I don’t look to fat in this shirt do I?” she asked.

“Christine, you’re fine. Taylor will be amazed” Sarah assured her.

“Are you sure? Promise me you’d tell me if there was anything wrong” Christine said. She was getting slightly frantic due to nerves.

“Calm down girl, breath” Melissa told her. “You look great.”

“Okay, tonight is going to go great. I have nothing to worry about” Christine told herself out loud taking a few deep breaths.

“So what is it you like about him so much anyway?” Melissa asked.

“Hello, how many times have I tried to tell you, he is the most gorgeous being on the face of this earth. Then when I met him last night it was like I known him forever. He was so easy to talk with. You guys know how I can be shy around people I don’t know well. It wasn’t like that at all. Besides he’s even better looking in person if that’s possible” Christine explained.

“Well, whatever you say. Have fun” Sarah said.

Around the same time that afternoon Taylor stood in his boxers looking at all of his clothes. ‘Why do I have so many clothes?’ he wondered. ‘It just makes times like these impossible.’

Just then Zac wandered into Taylor’s room and flopped on the bed. “So what’s up with the get up?” he asked.

“I’m trying to figure out what to wear on a date tonight and failing miserably” Taylor explained.

“Who are you going out with?” Zac asked.

“Some girl I met at a night club last night” Taylor told him.

“You mean you picked up a chick at the bar and she actually wants to go out with you again. You didn’t scar her for life?” Zac teased.

“We didn’t have sex if that’s what you mean,” Taylor said.

“Whoa, who are you and what have you done with my brother?” Zac asked.

“Shut up asshole, I’m not that bad” Taylor complained. “I mean, I’m not saying I didn’t want to, but she didn’t and I was okay with that. She was a really amazing girl, and I think we could maybe have some sort of relationship, and I didn’t want to ruin that. So therefore I respected her.”

“Relationship? You’ve known her all of one day and you’re already thinking of it?” Zac wondered.

“Well, I think it has potential at least” Taylor told him.

“Well, it doesn’t have potential if you show up wearing that” Zac teased his brother about his clothing, or lack there of.

“Thanks Zac, I always knew I could count on you for helpful insight” Taylor said sarcastically.

“Anytime” Zac said and sauntered out of the room leaving Taylor once again to worry about picking out clothes and also wondering what the heck the point of that last conversation was. He chalked it up to regular Zac-ness and focused once again on clothing.

Looking at his pants he ruled his three leather pairs because Christine had told him the night before they made him look too rock star-ish, which was okay for on stage, but not for other stuff. Finally he pulled out his favorite pair of blue jeans and pulled them on.

Then after staring at his shirts for about 2 minutes he closed his eyes reached his hand in a pile and pulled one out. Opening his eyes he found he was holding an icy blue, tight-fitting, long-sleeved shirt. ‘Good enough’ he thought pulling it over his head. He fixed his hair with his fingers then left his room to go to his parents to make sure he could use on of the rental cars that night.
