Chapter 13

One bleak March day Christine trudged back to her apartment from class. She could not have imagined a more miserable semester. All of her classes seemed so much harder than usual. Of course it could have been due to the fact that she could never seem to pay attention in them. Her mind and heart were always consumed with thoughts of Taylor, and she found herself unable to think of anything else.

As soon as she let herself into the apartment she went back to her room and curled into a ball on her bed. She felt absolutely terrible, and she couldn’t think of anything to make herself feel better.

Just then her calendar caught her field of vision. “Oh shit” she said out loud when she remembered the date. March 14, it was Taylor’s birthday. She had known the night before, but after such a terrible day it had left her memory. Now she had to call him. Maybe that would make her feel a little better.

Just as she was composing herself to make the call the phone rang. “Hello” she answered.

“Hey baby” she heard Taylor’s enthusiastic voice.

“Taylor, its your birthday, I’m supposed to call you” she said.

“I know, but I have something to tell you, and I couldn’t wait any longer” he explained.

“Oh really? What is it you have to tell me?” she asked.

“Well, someone and his brother’s finished their latest album yesterday” he told her.

“Oh wow, that is so great. Congratulations sweetie” Christine said.

“And guess what else” Taylor continued.

“What?”

“That certain someone is free to come up and visit you on your break next week” he told her.

Christine was shocked. She had practically given up on the hope of him visiting since he hadn’t mentioned it in so long. Tears of joy started to fill her eyes. “That is so wonderful. You have no idea how bad of a day I’ve had, and that just make is so much better” she finally said.

“I’m so exited. I can’t wait to see you again,” he said.

“Can you fly up this Friday, sometime in the evening?” Christine asked.

“I can fly come up anytime you want me to, that’s why I called, to check and see when and where I need to come” he told her.

“Okay, well my last class is on Friday and it gets done at 1. My apartment is about 20 minutes from the airport. If you could arrive there sometime in the late afternoon or early evening that would be perfect. I can pick you up and we can come back to my place for the evening, then drive up to my parent’s on Saturday morning” she told him her plan.

“All right, that sounds great. I’ll book my flight as soon as I get off with you” he agreed.

“Oh Taylor, I’m so glad you’re coming. You hadn’t mentioned it in so long, I thought you weren’t going to come” Christine admitted.

“Well, we really didn’t know how long it was going to take. I didn’t want to get your hopes up for anything, but I also didn’t want to tell you that I wasn’t coming and make you even more unhappy” he explained. “So I waited until I knew everything for sure.”

“Well, I certainly can’t wait” she said excitedly.

“Me neither” he agreed.
